I'm new to vaping having been a joint smoker for 45 years. why do I care if my bud vapes evenly? for 45 years I just cleaned some weed, rolled it, and lit and smoked it. Now, how fine do I grind, do I pack the oven firm or not, what temp should I vape at. again what's the point of an even vape compared to uneven, or how dark the AVB is? any information would be helpful. thanks

Which vape are you using? That's important to figure out how fine of a grind and how to pack the oven. You generally want the AVB to come out sort of like coffee grounds.

Many people don't like to stir while vaping and put a higher value on how evenly a vape vapes. If you don't mind a stir every once in a while, it should not make too much of a difference to you. In theory, it is easier to vape the goodies you like if the whole load is the same temp. However, I think most only generally use temperature for selecting effects and different temps in the load would not be that important. Darkness tends to indicate higher temperatures during the vape and if you had some parts darker than others you might be missing out on some of the higher temp goodies in the cooler portion of the load.

As to your other questions, it really depends on the vape. You might find more success on those questions if you select your vape's thread and ask it there.

If the bowl is vaped evenly (generally meaning that there's no green herb left), it means that the bowl is being extracted efficiently - that you are extracting all the goodies.

I, personally, like to only extract to the color of a light or medium coffee grind color because I value taste over complete extraction. Others like a dark brown roasted coffee color. Others take it all the way to black char.

Grind used can, in some cases, be dependent on the vape, but mostly it's personal preference. The finer the grinder the more vapor & faster extraction.

How loose or tight you pack determines your draw restriction, vapor production & evenness of extraction. Generally, the finer the grind, the tighter the pack.

Temp is also a personal preference. I don't like hot, harsh vapor so I vape at lower temps & generally use a coarse, lightly tamped grind.

All of these variables are personal preferences learned through experimenting. Get on your vape's thread & see what most others prefer, try that & then adjust from there. Do a search for grind & temp & temperature.

thanks. l've spent a fortune a vapes before I realized no one does bad reviews online. got 2 Pax no problems, dynavap no problem. I bought a Plenty, too much air flow for me, I can't get a hit I don't feel like l'm wasting. same with the Hydrology 9, Linx Gaia and i'm mixed on the Enano. thanks again, l'll keep at. btw, I bought an induction heater for my vapcap, WOW!

I'm basically just using the dynavap now that I got an induction heater, I like my Pax 2&3 with coffee and for traveling

Get a log, enano. It will vape a ham sandwich. I just tear off a small piece, and have at it. Fuck the grinder these days. I am old school burner 40+ years, I got my nano 5 yrs ago! nver looked back

I want to get the most drugs out of my material, to get the most value for my dollar.
So, I care about how evenly extracted my herb is, and I tend to vape my herb till no vapor is produced and the herb is toasted evenly.

I don't understand why anyone would see uneven vaping of the herb as ok. Do you not want to get as large a quantity of the wanted drugs from the plant matter into your lungs?

Even if you prefer to leave some of the good drugs in the plant matter for later consuming, you still want to make sure it's all fairly evenly extracted to raise your confidence that it's all been properly decarboxylated before consuming.

sitting on my desk. with the induction heater, the vapcap is all I've been hitting

A Dynavap vaporizer with an induction heater is fantastic. But even with that available, my log is still a bit more convenient and just as good of an extractor. I still use my Woodscents log more when I’m at my desk.

I dont base anything on how dark the finished load is. I vape my herb until
I see no more vapor. some strains end up with lighter avb others end up with darker abv.

As far as vaping evenly, others have mentioned efficiency, which is true however for me its more about flavor. if a vaporizer heats the herb unevely it can ruin the taste of the load from the 1st hit

I am on the opposite end of the spectrum.I gave up the bud 30 years ago because the effects were too intense.
With a vaporizer I can dial in the temperature and tailor the effects that I am looking for.
Currently I vape at 338F and my ABV is a light tan colour and I end the session when it starts to taste toasty.

l don't experience taste other than citrus or diesel. if I don't get one of those, I get nothing. so it's not really about taste for me, it's all effect. I like the lower heat for smoothness, if 370 is low. it just happens to be my sweet spot. I bought an Atlas induction heater for my vapcap and haven't really picked up anything else since. great rips but cooler than I managed with a torch. also cools quicker because it's not as hot, so I can cut down time between hits.

I seem to struggle with any vape with free flowing air. I've got a Plenty I haven't had a decent hit out of it yet. I get high off the log but can't get the cloud even though than doesn't matter, I want to see it. one of the things i'm surprised by is how hard for me to get into the medical frame of mind about weed, 45 years as recreational habits are hard to break

I can whitewall a medium sized bong/bubbler with my Woodscents log.

That's the beauty of that log. I only use Dynavap tips with it. It's always on and at temp so I can hit it instantly, as many times as I want and for as long or short of a hit I want, without ever having to pause to re-heat.

Plus, I can have that "always on and at temp" log at whatever constant temp I want...so I can have the large stacked hits in a glass piece and fully extract in a couple of big-cloud hits, or I can sip on it with a shorter dry stem on lower temps for as long as I want.

I love my stoner-lego Dynavap products, which are some of the best vaporizers on the market. I will always have a collection of them. But everyone needs a log.

I'm curious, what setting are you using your log? at 6 I get no vape and at 6.5 it's hot. my taste buds must be for shit, I seldom taste much but I want max effect.

I have the nano, it is analogue, so temp/dial setting varies from unit to unit or cord/dial.
I find my setting is most dependent on material. So anywhere between 5.8 to 6.8.
A strain well cured, and loaded with tricomes goes cooler. I have vaped sugar trimming through water at 7+
with thick vapor, just need more hits to get there.
