I've heard of people using hexane before to do the same thing but that's extreeemly expensive and hard to find. Plus I'm not to sure how safe that is either since I known it's used in industrial applications to dissolve glue.
With 4x+ refined butane you shouldn't have many impurities in it so when it does all evaporate it shouldn't leave anything behind. I think vector and colibri are either 6 or 7 time refined and are supposed to be the cleanest available. As long as you use good butane and make sure you purge it long enough that all the 'tane leaves you'll be fine.
