Athlete Vaporists?

Fast walking on a slight downhill proably does not agree with your system.
Yes your running form is more forgiving then your walking ,fast walking form.

Yeah, apparently so.

Anyways, since I've eliminated that fast walk warm-up, mah knees are feeling a while bunch better. A few twinges now and then, but nothing like it was before. I was really panicking thinking that carrying over 200 lbs on these 69 year old knees finally wore away the cartilage (arthritis), and that I'd have to give up running. Just thinking about that was driving me a bit insane.

and did you also see the study that laid out the method to reduce the chance of getting prostate cancer? correct ... more ejaculations per week. use it or lose it. FTW!

That must be a REALLY old study being that I remember my Dad telling about that.

cool, your dad gave you a heads up and a head start ... much better than being in the Church of the Hairy Palm.

So I just started to roll out my IT band with my foam roller because I've been having some intermittent pain on the outside of my knee. OUCHIE....................Dat foam roller HURTS (not my knee, but my IT band), which is an indication that I really need to do this, but man, almost brings tears to my eyes.

The "no pain, no gain" saying, imho, applies more to this fraking foam roller than anything. I've used it on my back, my calves, and my quads, but the pain from rolling my IT band is intense. The first thing I thought of when that pain hit over those certain areas was, "No wonder my knees have been giving me issues lately."

I see I'm a bit late, but lwien try getting VERY VERY vaked. Then foam roll your entire body. Make sure you have time, as when I am vaked I can feel where I need to roll better. Also, you dont experience much pain but you do get unique sensations.

I find foam rolling (and using tennis and lacrosse balls) a very very different experience than doing so sober. Keep in mind relaxing is KEY to getting those knots out of your muscles. I bet you will have a great experience!

Heck, that's always great advice, goat, regardless of the activity! ;)

Been heavy in training for my mountain marathon. Logging about 30 - 35 miles weekly, mostly on trails. Nabbed the new Salomon Advanced Skinlab hydration pack and took it for a lengthy spin on technical terrain. It's simply amazing. Highly recommend for the distance runner and mountain cyclist.

You are sooooo right about this. Foam rolling while vaked. Hurting never felt so good.

Vaked to oblivion as I use my trigger point devices, including my foam roller. :mmmm:

Logged 14 miles today in the Columbia River Gorge. Run included 5,000 ft of elevation gain. Vaping helps me stretch and relax my muscles. I get zoned out and the lengthy stretching/trigger point sessions do me quite well.

We have established that I'm not actually an athlete... but, I do love cycling.

Just got home from a two hour meandering bike ride with my hubby, exploring around Tumwater. Hit a few hills... and did better on them than I used to! I'm gaining some strength, and stamina. I was even able to carry my bike upstairs when we got home! (now live in a walkup apartment, so climbing stairs with a bike is the new normal).

^^^ Freakin awesome!

In other news, my mountain marathon set for Sunday (tomorrow) was postponed due to a wildfire. Ugh!! All that training... So, I'm going to run the distance anyway, just on different trails in the Bay Area.

Cheers!

Sounds like an awesome course. Did a ten mile trail run this AM. Got a half marathon (paved) next weekend. Also, have a marathon or two coming up in the next few months.

We should all get together and hump away on our foam rollers, making nasty faces.

Hello Vapor Athletes!

Did a triathlon last weekend and brought my trusty Pax along for a pre-race sesh. First tri I've raced since I started vaporizing. I was very pleased with my performance!

Really want to get into Spints by the spring.

rekrab, I liked your video. Especially one of the last scenes I think with you cruising a wave and brushing the water with your fingers. Really feeling it. Nice. I am a barefoot runner. Here's a video I made.

I'd like to make some better videos but I'm pretty busy. I've run a few marathons barefoot but my favorite kind of running is actually kind of like surfing, on twisting trails and rolling grass hills going up and down like a roller coaster. Or running twisting patterns on the side of a hill, I feel like the hill is a wave and I'm surfing it. When I run on trails that I know really well, it really does feel like that. I like feeling the ground under my feet.
