At my wits end with trying to view Imgur images

Thanks for pointing this out, folks. I can't find any meaningful mention of imgur issues elsewhere including on their twitter or api status pages. It's possible that imgur is selectively rejecting requests based on referer headers from fc, and based on the 403 forbidden response that I'm seeing, that would appear to be the case. Maybe they decided that they don't like us for some reason. That would really suck because they're a great image host.

I'll contact them and update here. In the meantime if you want to host an image you can use these sites:

Their quick capture using the "PrtScn" button, edit features, and one click upload are very functional. No fuss, no muss, a variety of links and codes for forums, it works well.

You may be correct. I just did a test in which I posted an image I posted for this site on my blog. I then opened internet explorer (since I never use IE, it would have no cached image), and loaded the blog. The embedded picture loaded without any issue.

This may be an FC exclusive issue....... That would really suck if they block us completely from embedding images! I've got so many cool pictures of 3D prototypes on various threads

Which other host is reliable, imgur images remain online for years, what other servers will not erase images?

I know @t-dub said Firefox was failing but everything works in FF for me—but not Opera, Chrome, or Internet Explorer. None of my phone browsers load imgur either.

My ff is definitely failing on this issue, haven't tried anything else.
I do run a bunch of plugins that could be muddling the issue on my end, but it used to work.
It was getting buggy for a while, then this morning's ff update broke it completely.

I've found that if the little emoticon smile things still animate there's nothing wrong on my end( cookies and cache are clean and browsers working fine) when this has happened to me in the past.

(but keep in mind i'm no way computer tech savvy and just darn lucky it turns on every day).

We're working on it. (and by we, I mean those with computer knowledge like vtac and paka ). Not sure yet if it's an Imgur or XenForo problem, but we're all experiencing it.

That's why it works for me in Firefox. I had referrers turned off for some reason. I can't remember why I did that.

I'm starting to see some already. I went to a favorite medical site and the videos won't play due to "Privacy Settings". Putting things back in about:config fixed it.

Ok, I'm having the same problems as everyone else, with the exception that pictures keep sneaking though for a moment and then disappearing. I've refreshed a few pages only to find one out of 20 broken images actually loaded, and then on next refresh it's gone again. I've been experiencing that in chrome, but getting nothing at all in safari or ff. The mystery deepens...

Mobile chrome isn't working either. I heard imgur was updating their privacy policy so that anyone in an embedded photo can send them an email and if it's them in the photo they can get it removed.

Does anyone think it's possible they removed embedded photos just to rid the current photos that may be out there without people's consent?

Would be a end all way to protect themselves from liability with this new privacy policy.

To all those suggesting that imgur is disallowing embedding universally - no way. That's a massive part of why people use their site for hosting.

Many websites use referrer headers as a check to see if you're coming from where they think you should be. Or as seems to be the case here, somewhere they don't think you should be. In general the issues with referrers turned off would be content not loading as expected as @t-dub noted.

Frankly this is a surprise to me. I don't see any glaring problems from reading imgur's TOS. Our rules make it clear that we don't condone illegal activity.

Thats because the pic is in your cache. I saw that post of yours and could not see the photo at that time, however it is there now, which makes sense since I installed the Firefox addon.
