OMGOMGOMG.

Very clear video of both adobewan's piece and the straight adaptor. The coolest parts of the video are A) seeing the oil can in action, and B) getting a much more clear notion of the adaptors.

I just want to mention that Cortney introduced me to the artist she mentions at the end of the video, Ivan (www.ivanart.net), and he asked if he could do a caricature of me and I agreed of course:

I told him to give me a smirk so he did. Great guy and a terrific artist.

There is no T or A in this vid (except in your own mind). That IS something we see a bit of, since most vape buyers (especially those with VAS) are male, but in this case the person doing the demo is a DV employee that happens to be an attractive female. Let's not stretch that to the extreme of 'selling with sex'.

ALRIGHT. SOOO. At my doorstep this morning was a package......

As soon as I get my okay from Da Vinci, I'll post the pics. I CAN say confidently without using the vape yet... this is what spending $250 on a vaporizer should feel like. Da Vinci means business with this bad boy; and when I mean "business", I mean easily the most stylish/advanced portable out there.

INITIAL OBSERVATIONS:

- I felt like a secret agent when opening my package. Not only was there an awesome Da Vinci T-shirt, there was also an official Da Vinci black envelope sealed with their own stamp of approval. The contents of that envelope: "Top Secret Information"

- The wait for packaging will be worth it. SO simple, yet very clean; again with the Da Vinci "stamp of approval" seal wrapped around the box like a ribbon. Think original Da Vinci box, except grey & with a window displaying the Ascent.

- Even the inside of the box feels quality. There's two little flaps that pull up displaying your charger/accessories

-Accessories look to include, a pick for stirring (shown in video), a sticker, instructions, 3 extra screens, two what seem to be rubber plugs, a long glass screen (shown in the bottom of the Ascent in Nikki's video), and two glass oil cans w/ rubber lids. The lids have little holes that allow your vapor to travel up the glass stem & mouthpiece.

- The Ascent honest-to-god feels like the best portable on the market. They've really set the bar, just like I'd expected. It feels VERY sturdy. I got the black croc skin leather version... and it's really sexy. The metal on the sides of the vape make it feel similar to a phone... I could easily see this being mistaken for a phone actually.

- What's interesting is, there is no "clicking" noise like described a few posts earlier. It's rubber on the top/bottom, so when pulling out your glass mouthpiece/screen, you have to use your fingernail. It's pretty easy, and I was able to hold my mouthpiece and shake it rapidly without it falling out... so the rubber was a solid design choice; it'll give it some shock absorption in a fall as well, although you won't see me doing any drop tests.

- When you hit the power button, you get a startup screen similar to powering on a phone. It says "Ascent" then flashes "By Da Vinci"... then you're at your home screen.

So any ad that features a lady demoing a product is construed as T&A? There are a LOT of T&A ads out there but this surely isn't one of them and what's wrong with having a lady with a pretty face demonstrating your product? Would you have preferred this:

Questions:

• What are the three extra screens? Obviously not the glass stem piece with the built in screen as you mentioned that later. Metal screens? Glass???
• Rubber plugs be the mouthpiece cover?
• No extra stems/straws (the extractable glass)?
• No "cute little carrying satchel"?

Presume there was a wall-wort in there.

Then there is further action on the front panel to engage the heating element, correct?

I'm definitely looking forward to the first reviews. Seeing the waterpipe attachment got me thinking.

Ascent definitely could be hooked up to a whip very easily. So I was thinking if there was a some kind of "dock" where I could put the Ascent in so I could connect the whip to and pass the whip around while keeping the Ascent on the table. Bringing a tabletop feel to this bad boy.

mine is black, so stealth edition seems appropriate. actually, it is the one I would have asked for, so feeling good.

I agree with THR that is feels very well built. It has a solid, heavy feel that reminds me of the Solo. It's charging now, and I know it can be used while charging, but it's still too early in the day for me. I'll probably fire it up in another couple of hours. It should be completely charged by 5:00.

The packaging is very professional...like an iPhone or the Pax. The ceramic bowl has a thin glass coating and the bowl looks to be ample...about the same as a Pax oven (deeper and narrower) or about two to three Solo stems. I can look through the bottom grill, up through the holes in the bowl to the glass screen/mouthpiece...I like it that the entire air path is so easily viewable.

I was told the only differences between this unit and the production units they are awaiting are simple cosmetic issues...the seams don't line up perfectly and the buttons stick out a little bit. I don't know what they are talking about with the seams...they look fine to me. But I get the button changes. Right now they stick out a little bit and have pointed corners. This can be improved a little and they are doing just that. I know some are getting impatient, but the improvements will be worth the wait and it gives me great hope for the unit and the company...it shows a perfectionist attitude that cares about the details.

I will review this unit as I usually do. I will be here to report on any interaction I have with it and will check in every time I use it. I'll see you guys in a couple of hours!
