I said don't "seem" to be. I'm just saying what I've experienced so far, I'm sure I'll get a better feel the longer I'm on here.
it escalate quickly round here

you can keep your abv even if its dark , but you will need ALOT more to get medicated, and your food may taste weird .

I wish I could talk you out of the pax...you're not going to like the abv and you may end up thinking all vaporizers are a bitch to keep clean. But I've never had a functioning unit...I just don't like the thing. There are two other portables that look promising coming out in the next four to five weeks that I would much prefer to have.

stickstones- I've owned a lot of glass and know the importance of clean devices and don't mind it( read a lot about pax and know it's important to keep clean to keep working) but would like to hear your opinion. again new to vapes and would like to know everything about them in general, and especially before I drop the money on one. So talk to me I'm listening.

The main thing I need in a vape is to be portable and discreet. I also like that it is only 3 pieces and self contained.I drive and medicate a lot so don't want something big and complicated with a bunch of pieces. it's small,i like the battery, no glass. and sounds like if you keep it clean and lubed to avoid temp light issue and sticking mouth piece,I don't see many problems. But I've never used it and would like to hear your opinion anyways since I don't know much about vapes.

I think it varies by person, but I think if most people are completely open to vaporization they will find only positives. Besides the possible VAS and wanting to vape all day every day. But I think that can come with smoking in the form of glass and the traditional love for herb.

I vape with several of my friends. All of them pretty much only vape when they are with me. They enjoy it but none of them have given up smoking. Most of them would have a vape if it wasnt for entrance cost. They pretty much all like the taste, efficiency, and gentleness provided. They are content with what they have however, so why spend a bunch of money. I do have one friend who hates the taste and smell that vaped weed produces. The one that kind of lingers around your vape until it is cleaned. However I find it crazy that someone can find that more offensive than the dirtiness that comes with combustion. :2c:

An interesting thing I have noticed. 2 of my roommates have smoked for a couple years while 2 are very new to herb. The 2 that are new had vapes and smoking available whenever they chose to dabble, and I find they are much more fond of vaping than the ones already accustomed to smoking.

I have one downside because I live in a non MMJ state and feel the need to add 250$ for court cost and fines to any portables. I can never spend to much on portable paraphernalia because of that. Some people say the Pax (Latin for peace) is a herb hog I know after reading I may not enjoy the Pax. Maybe you could buy your back up vape now and wait to buy your main vaporizer until you have more knowledge and options.

For various reasons I've never bought into the popular theory about the Pax temperature light problem and the need for constant cleaning. In my experience, my Pax has acted up immediately after cleaning on several occasions, and has also gone through a three month period of constant use with only a couple of cleanings. Right now it's having its worst fit in about a year. I had decided that since it hadn't been cleaned for over a month I should clean it even though it was working well. Bad, bad move. Since then it is next to impossible to get it out of temperature mode. Fortunately just as this started happening, I received my Pinnacle, which has replaced the Pax in my (actually my wife's) lineup.

The Pax has easily the worst flavour of any vapourizer I've ever tried, and it also makes the least efficient use of my stash. It has its place but the real reason it still gets (or was getting) used is that my wife prefers it.

the only downside I can see is reluctance to lose such an expensive piece compared to a $20 glass bowl. I also love in a prohibition state but the only time I don't keep it behind closed doors is when I'm in the boat or out fishing so I plan to get either an ubie or vapolution portable as I would gladly throw them overboard to avoid a ticket.
as for the pax, I almost bought one until I did extensive research and decided on a solo which I couldn't be happier with. I know it doesn't suit your portability factor though. Maybe look into a thermovape product. Just make sure you have done enough research before dropping $200+ so you know you will be happy with it for a long time. If after researching you decide you still want to go with the pax then all I have to say is enjoy.

I agree with all points above regarding the Pax. Mine gets used as a stealthy portable, and a handy way to deep vape my duff when I am desperate. Would I buy it again? Not at its current price...it is handy, but for all the trouble I have been having with sticky mouthpieces, and fincky lights, its just not worth what I paid for it. I felt an initial love for the unit, but its faded as you can see. I actually just lost my charger and I could care less

Well if you guys don't recommend the pax what else would you recommend based on my criteria of needs?

Pinnacle & Inhalater appear to be solid choices (never used them myself, just going on what I have read on the forum) and they are in the same price range as Pax. If you want to save some money, Solo, FlashVape and Hammer are all great choices, but have unique shapes, and glass stems, etc, that may be an issue for you.

im glad you like the pinnacle i love mine
Let's derail this thread with Pinnacle love!! Wooo!!

(just kidding)

In all seriousness, I only smoked for a couple months before I started vaping. I started because I wanted to conserve and be able to smoke indoors without making everything smell dank. Now I love vaping and generally avoid combusting, if I do it's because I'm at a party or something and it is offered to me. One thing I've grown to love is the taste of herb, with combustion you don't get this nearly as much. The taste of the herb is highlighted in the first couple of hits, and if you let a smoker try one of these hits it really blows them away.
The only real downside of vaping is that your "piece" is now (depending on what vape) an expensive gadget that you must take care of. Like clouded vision said, if you see a cop headed your way, you're not going to want to throw away your $250 device.
One could also argue that they enjoy the much heavier, couch-locking high of smoking. This could be counteracted by picking an indica that's known to heavily couch-lock, but a lot of people don't have access to different strains.

It's okay getting off subject cause it changes every few post anyways. honestly I want it to change, since everyone keeps saying not to get a pax, I'm wondering what to get instead and why. And people are talking about the Ascent. I don't know anything about it except that it's not out yet. Are there any confirmed info on it or just rumors since its not out yet?

Just get a SOLO in the meantime.
Their super cheap right now.
If flavor and effect are important to you you'll get one.
Buy whatever if flavor is not a concern!
SOLO's pair with waterpipes with no trouble.

Thanks for the opportunity to engage. Clearly you have done your research, and I respect that. I think I know what you are looking for in a portable vape based on your choice of the Pax. Since you have no vape experience, allow me to share some of mine.

The reason I don't like the Pax without owning one is summed up pretty well above by Pakalolo. This guy knows his shit, especially when it comes to conduction vapes.

The Pax has easily the worst flavour of any vapourizer I've ever tried, and it also makes the least efficient use of my stash. It has its place but the real reason it still gets (or was getting) used is that my wife prefers it.

You are a vapor noob (I don't mean that in the derogatory sense, just a fact you stated in nicer terms), so I guarantee you will like the Pax. It's a decent vape that will get you high and that impresses noobs. But of all the vapes out there, it is one of the least efficient. It incorporates the worst part of conduction into its design by not taking advantage of conductions greatest benefit...instant on/off. That's the beauty of vapes like the mflb and the Palm...they turn off immediately, allowing you to enjoy the rest of your load later...taste and all. But the Pax ignores this and keeps on cooking...wasting the goodies you want and the taste you could be enjoying later. I'd rather see you get a mflb instead. It's cheaper, has instant on/off and is smaller. It also requires some interaction on your part, thus getting you an education on vapor production.

But the units I think are worth passing over this for, without even trying them yet, are the Ascent and the Pinnacle Pro. They are both in the same price range as the Pax and are similarly stealthy. The Ascent should be out any week now and the Pinnacle Pro in about a month. But they both are conduction vapes that are going to taste better and be more efficient. Not as efficient as the mflb, but better than the Pax. Both companies have put out similar products before that were good, so I expect these to be better. The Ascent will have an all glass air path that you can remove in three pieces to clean.

Understand, however, that I don't have a Pax and have only tried a defective one. But I understand, and have experienced with other vapes, the shortcomings of the Pax, and I don't want them. You will like the Pax, but I think you will soon grow to want something better due to its shortcomings. My local head shop owner sells a lot of them, but he doesn't like them because they get returned more than others. He loves the Solo because every one he sells makes a happy customer. He and I are both trying to build him an inventory of vapes that will bring happy customers back looking for more, and neither of us thinks the Pax is it.

I am a vape noob, I don't take offense to that, that is why I'm here. I want to get yall's opinions since yall have more experience than me. The solo looks like a good vape but to big for me and that big glass mouthpiece isn't really what i'm looking for. And not trying to buy a vape hold me over and buy another a month later. I am really trying to get it right the first time thats why im asking so many questions. I'm sure i'll catch the bug and want to buy more vapes but don't have money for that right now for multiples. No matter what vape I get, I don't plan on packing it and taking breaks or taking small hits throughout the day, just packing it for a sesh and crushing it. Would love to get a vape right now but I think its sounds like I should wait to make my decision for the ascent and pinnacle pro. I really don't see any poratable vapes out at the moment other than the pax that interest me and meet requirements. So im just gonna wait and keep doing some reading for the next month and choose on the ascent, pinnacle pro, and pax once they come out.

In reality, the Solo is tiny. I was amazed, as all the photos I've seen make it look huge.
