Some realizations seem to have more of a lasting effect, especially ones that i formed after processing mood logs.
I came up with the analogy that doing mood-logs is like inspecting micro-code that runs on my processor, and after comparing lists of thoughts from different events, the pattern that arose set me up to make a realization (I was getting angry when she wouldn't listen to me - it turns out that when you only have one adult who will listen to you, it hurts when they won't). Something about making the realization took the charge off it.
Another way of helping effect behavioral changes has been to build meaning where it wasn't developed but that seems to take longer, though the changes seem just as strong.
