I noticed FC didn't have a thread for Apix Designs so I decided to change that. Dan's prices are amazing - I got my gridded stemline to gridded disc from him for just $220. My tube has more points of diffusion than a $300 Sovereignty gridded stemline but I got it for $80 cheaper! :o The reason that his prices are so good is because he recently started a couple of years back, but he's been progressing fast and the stuff he puts out these days is awesome.

I contacted Dan about twenty days ago about making a semi-custom stemline for my Cloud.

Specs:
50mm chamber to ~15 degree 24mm bent neck mouthpiece.
17-19" tall
Large thick base
Long thick joint for Cloud clearance
Extra joint reinforcement for the vaporizer's weight


I'm not sure if he's taking any unique custom orders (double chambers, worked, etc) as he seems pretty swamped as it is.

I'm guessing a 2-4 week turnaround for my basic stemline. On a side note, he is based in bay area and I think he does give a shipping discount in-state.

Awesome video. I think it looks pretty classy how they put the logo on the base.

I really want a custom gridded stemline but he doesn't ship to my area.

SD_haze those are some nice Cloud-friendly specs! I didn't know he was taking custom orders as I heard he stopped a few months back, but I've seen some of his worked tubes and I'd love to get something custom worked from him one day.

Krimidad I agree haha I wish all the glass companies out there would do this. It looks way classier than having a big colorful logo on the main part of the pipe. Those logos make make pipes look tacky, plus they block the view of the milk.

From what I understand he's not so much taking "custom orders" but more making stemlines "made to order". If you got to his apixdesign.com website, you can see the basic $145 stemline says Made To Order.

I approached him saying i just had a few basic specifications but was still his design.

Welll after a month without hearing him it turned out my Order email got lost :shrug:

Wouldn't expect that from a full-time blower, but Dan is still a college student so I can cut him a break.
Especially after this Uber Tank Joint he emailed as the work-in-progress!

Tis a 9mm joint welded to a 24x4mm stem tube

He put up a 19" King Stemline (10 gridded slits, 60 holes) to Disc (25 holes). I've always wanted a King Stem in the shape of a sexy straight tube! :love: If only it were shorter, then I'd definitely snatch it up...

yep because the slits are opened upwards it stacks higher if you were to make it shorter u would need a splashguard and it would also null the stacking so what point?

I asked for serious bridge reinforcement to support the cloud.

Apparently though, he didn't want to send this one out because he wants it to be perfect.

This try wasn't "100%" and he said the base could be bigger and the joint weld could be better. He quoted it at a 75%.
Instead of shipping off the finished tube because it was done, like he easily could have, Dan offered to just make another one today. "Practice makes perfect, the next one will be much better"

dude, SD, that Apix piece is a BEAST. i mean, look at that base and and the joint. i also second 'that herb guy's suggestion of a video showing that thing in action.
