Anyone try ABV Butter using a Mota Pot?

hey guys,

ive successfully made two batches of very good chocolates. used solid coconutoil and water (2 parts oil 1 part water maybe).

i wanted to suggest using roasted nuts to accompany the abv taste. it plays together really well actually! its tasty even.

i also added, coconut shreddings and a very strong ristretto to the chocolate,abv-oil mix.

yes i made my country (switzerland) proud by going full chocolatier, even added crumbs of biscuits on top of the mold, so now the chocolates have a biscuit floor.

guess what i want to say is, go nuts with nuts and other things to make really delicious chocolates.

also @nickdanger that is correct. i dont know if you really need lecithin when u separate the water, the oil is stable by itself.

@funkyjunky I believe the oil is stable by itself, but had read a couple of threads that mentioned using lecithin to increase the potency of the herb/avb. It takes me SO long to accumulate any quantity of AVB that I am just trying to do all I can to maximize it!

Espresso machine or French coffee press type?
Will the coconut oil in the espresso machine get to the steam/boil level for infusion - or just clog and other ways destroy it?
Am I overthinking

so for some theory as i pull it out my nose:

oil liquidifies, water starts to boil, oil doesnt boil at that temp but is liquid. water vapor pressure starts pressing out everything from bottom section to the top. oil alone wont work, some water is needed.
since he oil is clear, opposed to butter, it does not clog. however if you grind the abv superfine and really press the chamber there is too much restriction and he oil has trouble getting through, the water might.

dont pack too tightly, add lets say 1/4 water minimum

Hi ! Has anyone tried to use it with weed + coffee ? Sandwich method ( one layer of coffee, one of weed, and the rest with coffee) or first layer with weed and complete with coffee.
The idea is that if there is not enough pressure gradient between both sides of the filter, the extraction will be too fast. Ground coffee beans expand while water goes through them, building up more pressure inside the middle of the two chambers. Moka pots are designed to be used with coffee !
At the end, do as usual : separate water & oil phase. Only difference is that the "water phase" will be in fact coffee !

Question for those who use the "moka pot" technique for quite a while now : is this a method used for convenience only, or can it compete with the "slow cooker" method ?

Thanks, Cheers :-)

I made a batch of cannacoffee. Can't say if it work mo' better.

While I originally thought of transitioning to small batches of oil made with a moka pot I have stuck with the MBM.

It should work, but the effect shold be very vague as there is no fat to deliver THC to our receptors, in theory.

Of course, I meant that water+butter( or whatever oil you want) should be used in the liquid reservoir. The coffee idea was just because I thought that with weed only, water would flow too fast through the "weed layer" and thus that we would get a poor extraction.
But I still haven't bought a moka pot yet. Will definitely try in the future.
Peace

...ooops I've done it again, just made another batch of 70g of cannabutter, with 90g of butter. This time I've used 8gr of ABV, it should be more potent than last time. Also divided in 2x20gr and 1x30gr portions and saved it into the freezer.

Using just ABV works just fine. No need to mix coffee with the ABV. The ABV should be ground down to powder, so it's just like the super fine espresso coffee, it provides resistance for the water/oil to push thru and extract.
Mota pot with ABV and water/oil works great

I finally got around to making the canna oil in the Moka pot, and have made some chocolate candy. Taste is excellent, but not sure how many pieces it will take to get medicated. Here's what I did:

8 g of light-medium AVB ground up fine
1/2 c coconut oil
about 1/4 c water
10 pcs Ghiradelli Intense Dark Chocolate (.375 oz each)

Put in the Moka pot (the one I have is a 3-cup) and extracted the AVB into the oil. It came out a nice green color and smelled really nice. I chilled it and removed the water from the dish. I melted the oil on my simmer burner on the stove (it has a 160* setting) and then added in the chocolate. Mixed together and put into a candy mold. Each mold held 1/2 tsp. I ended up with 60 of these.

For the rest of the mixture, I added 1/4 tsp sunflower lecithin and mixed in. I was able to get 20 more pieces out of this.

I didn't want to use the lecithin in the whole batch in case it didn't blend in well. I had purchased the granules before I realized folks were saying the liquid was better, but it blended in just fine.

Testing will commence. I ate one piece a little while ago, not long enough to know if I will feel anything. If one doesn't do the trick, I will try 2 tomorrow and so on until I find the correct number to eat.

I am going to buy a couple of larger candy molds for the next batch, but at least I have a starting point from this batch. I think that one that holds 1 tsp will probably be easier to deal with than the smaller one I used.

Made a stick of butter and had no effect with the 13 peanut butter cookies I made. Does anyone know if I could run the butter through a 2nd time with fresh ABV. I still have a mason jar full. Maybe all the thc has been boiled off. I usually go up to 420 on the Ariser.

All my herb gets finished at 445 F and it has goodies still remaining.
Your ABV has actives in it.

How much ABV did you run? Did you grind it/crush it to powder like consistency---like how espresso grounds are super-fine? Did you tamp it down firm, like how espresso grounds get tamped down?
What size Mota pot, how many cups?
What color is your butter that you ran thru?

Mine came out great, but I'm still in the testing phase to see dosage-wise what will work the best. One of the candies did nothing at all; with two I had a low-key smooth medicated feeling, pretty near perfect for a work day to be able to get everything done and not be too high. I will have an opportunity to eat 3 pieces this weekend, and I imagine from what 2 felt like, it should be a pretty nice lift. Unfortunately, I'm not able to test as often as I would like...

Nick, it's the 4 cup version.
Chef KTESPMKR Heavy-Gauge Stainless Steel Espresso Maker, 4 Cup off Amazon. I filled it to the brim and tapped it down. Did not grind it but it was pretty fine already. Butter was a brown green color and a little smelly. One stick of butter with a quarter cup of water during the process. Maybe grind it up a little next time?

I ground mine up really fine, almost a powder. Someone in a previous comment remarked that it worked better finely ground, and I had good results this way.

It is very easy to turn your ABV into powder. The Mota Pot was designed to use espresso grind coffee which is a super super fine grind.
Get a big rounded bowl and a big soup spoon and just roll the spoon over/ thru the ABV in the bottom of the bowl. The ABv is so dry from vaping that it easily crushes into powder.

That should help and IMO coconut oil works better than butter for extracting. Not sure if others feel the same way??

Do you just add coconut oil in the chamber with water instead of butter? I'm so curious to try it out, but wouldn't like to end up with a less potent product.

Yes, you just use coconut oil + water in the chamber.
I thought it worked better than butter. It was recommended by others as being even better at extracting than butter.
