Anyone get a chronic cough from oils?

Ever since I started vaping and never smoking, any smoking related cough I may have had has COMPLETELY disappeared. However I've recently been using an oil pen for the first time and I have a full-blown chronic cough... what the hell!

Is this a common occurrence with oil?

The only time I find myself coughing is subsequent a tasty injection from my RDA.

I would be concerned with a). The materials that your specific device is constructed from ( more specifically the heating element ) and b). The source of your material, what's really in that oil your getting?

Both of these factors can play equally important roles in the the equation of safely consuming our product. Basically I wouldn't trust the 20$ item from the shop down the street geared to the oil consumer, it's just too de-personalized , that particular retailer and items manufacturer holds a guaranteed zero percent worry towards end consumer safety.

It is very simple to make your own coils on any RDA you choose, that can be done safely and much more efficiently for oil then any or most function fit devices on the market. For the most part.

Try a different method of consumption and see if you still experience the health issues, process of elimination, and you can find out exactly where the issue stems from.

My suspicion is the device.

It could be your oil pen is running at too high of a temperature or the quality of your oils could be another factor.

Can you adjust the temperature of your pen?

Oil always makes me cough, regardless of type of oil, or type of device. For that reason I mostly only vape flowers these days, but I'll still take a dab or hit an oil pen if offered. I do get reminded immediately however that my chest hates concentrates. I also have chronic bronchitis from years of cigs, so that is probably the biggest contributing factor in all of this. YMMV.

@rushrocker , 510 thread pens with pre-load cartridges and mod oil vapes always tend to weeze up my chest with congestion and a chronic cough (often sore throat too) unless I run them through a bubbler. I feel it's the hot conduction of the inefficient wick heating systems that basically chars the extracts/concentrates like a frying pan. I've found that little moisture conditioning (bong, bubbler, dabrig with silicone hose to adapt to vape) can really go a long way in taming harsh vapors

I like concentrates, but definatly notice I'm lung hurt the next day if I go wild.

What do you mean by oil pen exactly? If it's a prefilled cart oil pen type of deal, a lot of those carts use PG (propylene glycol) to thin oils out. It has a distinct taste kinda plastic-y but not I guess, anyways some people are sensitive to it and their body won't like it. That might be worth considering if that's your situation. Otherwise maybe heat, I take low-temp rosin dabs and don't get chronic cough. I mean, if it's a big one sure, or if it's too hot, but otherwise no persistent cough of any sort.

I get a bad cough from concentrates. I'm going back to vaping flowers,. Dabs' etc are fine for me very occasionally but I have to listen to my body.

Fuck concentrates. Stick with flowers. Way safer man.

The main issue with concentrates are residues, I noticed I never cough when I take a low-temp dab (540 on my e-nail) on a CLEAN nail, if I take several dabs on the same nail without cleaning, they are harsher and harsher and I have terrrific cough!

So after each dab I make a small coton ball and clean my nail to new before the next dab, using this method every dab is sweet and smooth.

The problem is the same with wax pen, too much residues and coughing occurs but t°, wax quality and attys components are the key also. For example i own a Divine tribe ceramic double coil atty....it makes me cough at hell...as i would to put my lungs out! and in another hand my old kiss cart 7.4v is smooth as my dabstorm or evolve. I have nothing against DT, I loved my donut V1 but i hate the double coil atty they offer for the coughing reason!

I can cough using flowers also...especially using a good convection device and a large load at high t°!
Conduction doesn't irritate my lungs as much as convection...sometimes I'm stocked to see I can manage some milk style hits without any cough (with a true conduction unit) and in another hand some whispy full terpènes hits are difficult to handle for my lungs!

well the nail will have residue from dabbing, so i guess the concentrates you have just arent really clean. I use the divine tribe enail with some other expensive parts for my own set. I can dab away at 650-710 for many dabs without cleaning and it taste fresh. I can dab at lower temps but i dont really like to because of the vapor trails which just make my room stink a bit and then after that just smells like heat. I have been dabbing HeadBand Trim/nugs run shatter mostly for a while, and ran my own grand daddy purple bho. When i dab the headband it only leaves residue when it is under 650, and the gdp will never leave anything on the nail, vapes very clean. Would also depend on what kind of water pipe and add on's you have to cool it more. OR you can just place some concentrate on some parchment paper, and kind of cut it in to small squares like i do, which vapes so much better.
