Any serious beer drinkers in forum?

Honestly I don't even know if it would be possible to buy it here. Maybe in some specialized shop. I usually buy my beers in supermarket or "drink-store" and I clearly made a mistake using "home country" expression as I simply live here... Most of people drink beers of our lands I think, there isn't much foreign choices except in some special shop.

at the moment I have 2 bottles of leffe blond standing in my fridge, I usually prefer dark/brown beers, but I prefer those at roomtemp instead of cooled, and I just got my own fridge, so I bought some blonde beers for in my fridge. and a bottle of some kind of winterspecial from palm because I'm curious.

there is one blonde beer though that I especially remember as tasting very good, only had one glass of it, on the terrace of a bar that has it on tap. it was 'brugse zot', and sitting around that table outside in late summer drinking it was heavenly.

a dark beer that I frequently drink is 'grimbergen' (dubbel I think), because my usual hangout serves it(in bottles)

Yes, your famous flat lands carry a lot of our "saint-products", I always have been amazed to find special or commercial Belgian beers in some bars after going out from the CS.. However, I much prefer MJ over beers, kind of same reason as our russian-origin comrade over here.
The "brugse zot" is really good : fresh fruity taste, I like it very much ! Netherlands carry also good regional beers and I'm never claiming you can't find good beers in any region of the world, even if people are pretty pretentious at claiming we own the best. Otherwise we don't have a lot to be pretentious, so please, leave it to us ! (should be a crown ! )
On the dark side of the beer give a try to "Kasteel rouge" if you never tried... Not my kind but it could be yours ! Intense one!

End of last year there was an article telling that the monks in the "Orval Abbaye" were only 12 left. Telling that they could loose their "Trappist" label if no renewal. So if anybody is searching a religious-dedication-brewing vocation, you know where to go...

Being from Atlanta, our pride is Sweetwater420 from Sweetwater Brewery.

Next week I also have a case of Spotted Cow coming in from Wisconsin.

Shine is still real big down here- we brew our own and typically break it into several batches: Plain, Apple Pie, Grape, etc. Keep passing the Jar

...a jar of 180+ proof moonshine (plain) is also an ideal tincture base; although I do need to work on my technique.

There is a competition every year in Florida for the best beer. All the breweries submit entries and then at the Brewers Ball all the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal-ed beers are available to drink. Invite only and a full blast party with music, food and some of the best craft beer around.

yesterday I discovered that a supermarket wich is on my way to the campus has a whole aisle full of all kinds of obscure beers(a lot of belgian beers), a lot of them I never heard of, so I think I'll be visiting that supermarket more often to test some of those beers.
the first I bought to test out is called 'troubadour magma'

it kind of saddens me to see such a good beer(well, I assume, never had it) so dead... if I got me beer served like that in a bar I would go back for a new one. or did you just let it sit for a long trime before taking the pic?

That was AFTER the first sip/gulp. I thought about taking a pic when I heard the name, but I HAD to taste it first to make sure it was worthy of posting to my good friends here at FC . . .

It was a draft, craft beer, poured with a proper head. I just told you I sucked it all off . . . .

Or do you want less beer in the pint or something I'm missing? This photo was natural light in a bar by the way, no flash, if I would have used one more detail would be present and the ale would have looked much lighter.

around here less beer and more foam is indeed common though, the rule around here is 2 fingers of foam(in a regular sized beerglass). in that pic it looks like there's place for about 1 finger above the beer.

a while ago I was working behind a bar at a festival, and we got complaints about too less foam all the time. that was because of the position of our bar, it was the first bar you passed after entering and getting coins, so we got a lot of people that were still sober, and it was often not that busy so the beer often stood for a little while before being sold. and most of the beers we got complaints about still had 1 finger of foam on it. (we also got some strange germans though who asked for mixes of coke and beer, and one time 7-up and beer)

Point well taken. Like I said I didn't even think to take the photo until I tasted it, and that was for the virtual banquet thread.

Delicious! Almost two years old and only 7.5 %, so I was a little hesitant. But it was kept properly and tasted great! One of the best pilsners I've ever had.

If you West Coasters haven't tried some Dogfish Head brews, you're missing out! Their specialty brews are just fantastic. And their "60 minute" IPA is my favorite session IPA. So crisp and smooth and flavorful.

Surprisingly sweet! Solid IPA. Flavorful, very hoppy but not overwhelmingly. Very drinkable so the 8% creeps up on you. These days, I tend to prefer single-hop IPAs or DIPAs so that I can really get to "know" the hop, but this was quite nice too.

Indian Brown Ale
Theobroma -- "ancient ale" -- includes cocoa, honey, chillies, and annatto. I generally don't like extra ingredients in my beer (mostly wrt fruit) but this is an interesting beer.

If you like experimental beers, also check out Short's. Http://www.shortsbrewing.com They can get pretty far afield for me but when they hit one, they knock it out of the park.

I usually don't like a bunch of extra ingredients either, but Dogfish Head puts so much thought and time and effort into their specialties... for me, they usually nail it.

Sah'tea is my favorite of theirs. So much different flavors going on. But it's a real palate-killer. The last time I had it, I tried to drink some of Left Hand's 400 Pound Monkey IPA afterward and I couldn't taste a thing.

I love how much the East Coast is taking off with beer, especially in Asheville, NC. It's becoming beer capital of the whole country! No wonder Sierra Nevada and Oskar Blues and New Belgium are all there or going there now, with Stone Brewing looking like they're going to open up there as well.

Ahhh beer. My OTHER vice. Lately saisons have been my go to's, and of course all sorts of delicious sours. I love the darkside too, with stouts and porters making up the bulk of my cellar. I even have an IPA every now and again to remind myself that I am just not a hoppy person.
