Any negatives keeping multiple strains in the same jar?

Are there any negatives to keeping all my strains in the same mason jar?

i assume/imagine that they could possibly absorb each other terpenes and change the flavor profile?

But would it even be noticeable enough when I'm vaping the flowers?

I don't think there is a problem with it nor have I noticed a likeness in tastes between strains.
I have about 10-12 different strains that I keep in their own separate little glass jars with a cork topper. I then drilled a small hole through the cork to allow air inside the jars. All those jars go inside a gallon mason jar with a large boveda pack on top to regulate humidity.

The gallon mason jar will be replaced with a mahogany lined humidor I am in the works of building. :spliff:

I don't think there is a problem. Persoanlly I don't do it. I use two grinders if I have two strains.

I get a good price when I get a salad from my guy. I personally like to mix mine, anyway...after tasting each one separately of course. :) In my experience when the nuggets are stored together and touching each other, the different strains end up smelling like a combination of them all. But they each still taste different. That's just my observation.

The only negative to the salad jar is that occasionally you will get a bud that blows everything else away and you have no idea what it was.

If you have distinct indica or sativa strains you may want to keep them separate but for mixed hybrids I find it doesn't really matter for small amounts.

The only problem is that if you put the same strain in with the same strain, they cancel each other out and disappear.

Happens to me all the time to me. Never been able to figure out why ;)

Don't you want to know the cannabis that you are using? Whether it's a hard core Indica or a Sativa Hybrid? Are you keeping it in the mason jars altogether like a salad or do you have the different strains in small bags? Maybe you don't know the names anyway if you bought through the black market. Some strains are a couch lock and some aren't. I save the couch lock for nighttime.

Well since i only keep 2, maybe 3 strains at most, i know which type I'm choosing just by its appearance.

I know this may not always be the case since some strains look very similar, but i was mainly just curious about the science of if there is any change in flavor/effect when keeping stored 2+ strains in the same jar.

I feel that some small interaction would happen if so. But this is just my assumption!

By the time any loose buds hit the salad jar they have been jared for at least 6 months. By this stage any mould would have been dealt with.

...usually vape minimum 3 in a salad vaped together....but I keep in separate bowls till grinding.....why?...like to change composition periodically...usually have a indica...a hybrid...a sativa.....sometimes I grind equal amounts...sometimes I don't..sometimes I cycle two indica..and a hybrid...and a sativa...life is complicated

As a purist I have no earthly reason to "mix" my strains together for storage. Doesn't make me right or anybody else wrong, it just is what it is.
One concern could be if one of those strains is much drier than the others(and no, you cant tell just by looking at it), it could start to dry out/degrade the other strains that aren't that dry. I just don't see the reason, unless low quality flowers,:2c:, or maybe if your home storage space is that tight.:shrug:

Did some testing.

Put 2 strains in the same open glass bowl and stored them overnight in a dark drawer.

Whenever i went to smell the buds, i could noticeably tell a difference. The aromas were not nearly as distinct as before. And they both put off some sort of combined aroma.

So, i now can only imagine how much storing them in a closed mason for long periods of time could effect the original flavor and probably effect of the buds too.

Not saying that mixing strains up is bad. Just saying if you want to keep things the same then stay away from storing different strains together!

Mason jars are cheap and small 4oz size can be had for a little more than a $1 each. I guess if space is a concern it may be different, but don't know why anyone would put different strains in same one. I clean and reuse for different strains, but keep mine all single strain and put a piece of masking tape on the top to mark what is in each.

ive done it with many different strains for months at a time , i got a couple mixed jars that that have been stored together for well over a year . they do develop a mixed smell different from them individually stored for sure . the longer the time together the more a new overall smell develops . but i can still pretty much tell which bud is which strain when i vape a particular one . some more then others though for sure .
