God I love those first two songs. That first video shows the genesis of switch without having to listen to it dozens of times. That last song is very interesting, will have to check his music out. Im not a big fan of the horror-core sub genre but when its done witty I enjoy it. This guys style is similar to old school eminem

I guess thats the beauty of rap there is alot of diversity. I havent been digging celph titled/AOTP/vinnie paz as much lately. It might be due to them not being as witty anymore or maybe my person preference has changed. Not too sure why. I have celph titled's gatealog and really enjoy it. I also really like Jedi Mind Trick's albums, and 7L/Esoteric Dangerious connection and A New Dope. Also really like Apathy's Wheres your album at.

@olivianewtonjohn I don't do the horror core either, and Mr. Benton doesn't exactly fit there, but he doesn't really fit anywhere yet. He's got undiscovered bars and I'm curious to see where he goes. He's got a couple mixtapes on datpiff.com if you want more.

love this thread. i grew up skateboarding listening to punk rock and hip hop. i have dabbled in the fine art that is turntableism and music production in general. at first blending sets and scratching, but then it became straight skratch production. stuff like DStyles, Rucker, and Toadstyle from like 02-05... or thereabouts somewhere. birdy nam nam type of shit.

anyway, hiphop has influenced me as an individual and parent and will forever be an old friend of mine.

EDIT* for me it started when i was really young. in 85 or 86. run-dmc, beastie boys, and KRS were like my heros. i remember taking my fisher price suitcase turntable and my Miami Vice 45 and skratching the shit out of it... hahaha. i was in love. it wasnt until i was about 18 before i had real decks to work with. skateboarding took up most of my time, but after i got them i was off. still kut to this day, but not as often as i would like. if i had my choice tho i would just work on production of sound. sounds come from everywhere.... let use them all!

That is awesome. Its cool to see how skating and hip-hop have such a close connection.

I have tried cutting, my friend just got a turntable; but im terrible at it! Really made me respect those DMC DJs, its no joke. Hes really into fruity loops but wanted to add a turntable to mess with.

Are you still a big fan of hip-hop or you enjoy the old school stuff?

i still love it and the old stuff, but cant say that i have been paying as close attention as i should be. lately its been Doom, EL-P, and random old stuff. there is probably newer stuff that i am unaware of. i have focused a lot of my recent music listening to stuff like flying lotus and com truise. downtempo fire. if i had the time i would make so much fucking noise... lol

heres one from a couple of years ago that i still bug out to...
