Thanks for the responses on the screens. I was also wondering what people do with the avb & cleaning when out and about- do you bring a brush or something with you and just empty/brush out on the go?
As I carry the capsules in a little smell-proof doob tube, I just put the spent capsule at the bottom of the tube and rotate in a new capsule and then I empty spent capsules when I get home. You could also easily blow out the spent capsule while it's warm before putting it away if you don't keep your AVB.

The capsules really keep the vape very clean so they're a must for me.

I purchased the data cable from verdampftnochmal (I'm more of a low temp kinda guy) and i'm now curious if anyone had 'discalibrated' temp settings? Mine was showing spot on what was in the manual, but I think i've seen someone post some weird initial settings in this thread.

Also, bought some 3mm rubies and I'm going to put it in the sidecar bubbler to run it dry, but a little cooler. Lee from Tabletop Bong has shown this setup in one of his videos.

Has anyone tested lower temperatures (150-170) on the AE?

That was @TigoleBitties that had different temperatures when he got his unit. He and I and others how set it to run much cooler in the 150 to 170 range and higher. It’s delicious.

Made the same move, had 'calibrated' temperature settings, lowered the first step to 175, but it wasn't really my style, so now I'm starting at 185 (and rarely going above 195).

I've had the AE for a couple of months now. I had to do a handful of burnoffs and even my first couple of sessions had very muted flavor which was odd coming from a very flavorful strain. Whatever residue or byproduct the AE had eventually burned off and I was hit with incredible flavors and enjoyable sessions. The first several hits at low temps provide very little vapor but have amazing terpy flavor. My biggest surprise between the AE and other vapes is that the flavor is preserved through the entire session whereas other vapes start to have a very diminished flavor mid way through a session. The AE really does shine with providing an incredible flavor profile. I can pump out quite a bit of vapor at slightly higher temps (375 - 385F) and am really impressed with how the heater keeps up. Being my first halogen vape I am very impressed and is now my go to if I'm looking to sit back for a flavor filled sesh.

Hello everyone,

I’m new here so apologies if I break any forum discussion rules.

I received my AE today. Noticed a plastic/chemical smell emanating from the oven chamber. Decided to google a solution and came across the FC forum. I went through the discussion and decided to take everyone’s suggestions regarding the smell.

1. Did 7 burn offs at max temp
2. Placed the unit under indirect sunlight
3. Placed the case under indirect sunlight
4. Cleaned the chamber and chamber cover of the unit as well as the glass accessories with iso followed by hot water

Despite following all these suggestions, I still notice the plastic smell hasn’t completely gone away. I’m afraid to use the unit because I’m unsure if I will be inhaling plastic fumes.

Please help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Keep doing burnoffs if you want the smell to disappear. There's always a tiny bit of it, but that's not anything to worry about, in my opinion.
The case is a lot smellier than the actual vape, so keep them separate until it airs out properly.

I did around 10, and after a session or two, any residual smell was gone entirely.

Thanks for responding. I’ve done over 10 burn offs at this point and there’s still a noticeable plastic smell emanating from the chamber. It’s worse when the unit is turned on, and milder when it’s turned off. But it’s consistently noticeably present despite doing over 10 burn off cycles at max temperature.

For context, I have an Arizer Air SE for over a year now and I’ve never had any issues with any odour/smell, even with the brand new unit. Two burn offs and it was good to go. I’ve also used a friends Tiny Might 2 for a couple of months and noticed no particular odours from the TM2 either.

You mentioned that any residual smell went away completely after a couple of sessions. Is this only when you’re using the device? Or when it’s turned off as well?

That I can't tell you; I usually bite the bullet at some point. After the first proper session all smell was gone.

Perhaps you can leave it sitting with a fully opened chamber and airflow gauge for a day or two. I wouldn't really worry too much about the slight residual smell.

I never noticed the smell much during sessions, so it may just be the outer vape body that smells anyway. When mine gets hot, the body still has a slight hint of a plastic smell, but I presume that's normal for the material. Maybe that's what you're experiencing.

Gone or masked? We often read people saying the robot fart went away when they put material in their vape (whatever the model, not necessarily this one) but isn't it just muted by stronger smells?

I tested many vapes where the obnoxious smell never went away, and in a couple occasions there was no chance it could go away because of the materials they used close to the heater (be it kapton/polyimide tape or silicone bonder etc)

In my Ascent the smell never went away either and it was due to the silicone all around the heater as well as in the vapor path.

This is exactly what I’m worried about. If I wait for the smell to completely disappear before I start using the device, then I can be certain that I’m only inhaling terpenes and cannabinoids and not unnecessary plastic/chemical fumes. But if I don’t wait for the smell to go away before I start using the device I can never be certain if the plastic odour has gone completely or it’s just masked by the relatively stronger odour of the terpenes.

At this point though I’m not sure what to do. I’ve done over 15 burn offs and I still smell plastic so I’m at my wits end on how to proceed here.

Yeah I had the same problem with persistent robot fart smell. I did like 20 burn offs at max temp cleaned everything with ISO yet it was still there. In the end I talked to the vendor and we settled on a refund. Maybe some units just stay smelly no matter what :|

But do you provide ample air flow when doing your burn offs? Like in front of a fan or by blowing in the stem?

I tended to to the blow method but some (most?) vapes are not really designed to have the hot air travel in reverse direction, especially at max temperature... On the other hand you can't draw from the stem obviously, so your choices are limited. I think the fan method is a good compromise.

Or a vacuum cleaner may help...I find sunlight and time can also finish curing anything I may smell.

i think there will always be a few people who smell things when hot. like a super sense. heard people say in wooden vapes, smell of burning wood or cellulose. steel oil, titanium taste. even solder iron burn-off smell.

i can't explain it but occasionally people posts these smells. so far i've been lucky with my vape burn offs

In light of the recent post about smell not going away and my own experience with having to do numerous burnoffs, do we have anything from Yllvape describing all of the materials used in the vapor path of the AE?

Blowing air into the airport while the device is hot should do the trick, thought it can be tricky to do with some devices.

I looked around the internet and couldn't find a disassembly video for the AE -- only for the original design angus.

I also recently saw a reddit post claiming some type of insulation used in the unit was getting into the airpath.

I've really come to like the AE, so it'd be nice to have some peace of mind. ANyone know if there's a teardown out there?

Got mine today from lcv, im located in germany, all there no broken glas or anything, really bad plastic smell though here also, already did 10+ burn offs and soaked all glas in iso and rinsed it with boiling water, hoping the smell gets away soon.

The unit arrived yesterday. I did like 7 burnouts. Before that i cleaned everything with qtip, iso and water. Now after 4 bowles...the unit is still smelling a bit like a new car. And also when i inhale from it, cold without herbs, i have a little bit of the taste of new car.
Using it with herbs is super tasty though...i like the taste and the performance

Hi peeps,
Referring to the plastic smell from the angus enhanced.
I have my unit since a long time now.
And several times i wrote about it here in the forum. And asked if other have similar experience. But people mostly kept quiet about it.
So, in my experience, there is a super strong strange smell, when you heat up the unit without having the mouthpiece/lid on top. So heat up the unit with a open oven. Without herbs inside. Then this super strong robot fart smell comes up. And actually disappears again, when the unit is on temperatur.
You cant smell this, when the lid fur the mouthpieces is on top on the oven.
You can also not taste it when you are inhaling from the empty unit.
This brings me the conclusion, that the smell must come from the white upper Part of the oven (Actually somebody else wrote this long time ago). The Ring around the oven. And this Part ist actually not a part of the airpath. Because it sealed by the oven lid.
Actually i also wanted to write mike about this one more time....

And also i have the angus og. And the angus og does not has this smell.
And also i have the experience, that my og is giving much more milky rips the the enhanced....
