Alernative to cleaning with Iso or a real easy to clean 2 piece small bubbler.

Ok, I own two great bubblers thanks from the help of the FC community. They are the D020 & D020-D....

I love the way Iso leaves my glass, sparkling and brand new, but my body has rejected the the use of iso, as I found early on that I cannot clean any of my vape equipment with it, if not I will get a really bad upset stomach that can last me weeks. I have tried using only a few capfuls, heavy rinsing with warm water and then drying the entire piece with a blow dryer,and it still causes the same problems. Not even after leaving it out for a couple of days after all of this.

I have tried natural ways (which by the way have not affected me in any negative way) like pouring boiling hot water inside my glass pieces, or using lemon juice, or vinegar or soap and warm water, or everything in the same cleaning, but my glass pieces still look very cloudy inside. MAking me think that its still dirty and a possible breeding ground for bacteria and fungus. This is not the case for any glass piece I can take apart and run a brush and some soap and water.

I am also alittle skeptical on the cleaning solutions that some advertise for glass pieces, as to how healthy they are.

So my questions are, is there another method to cleaning and sterilizing my glass pieces that will leave them looking brand new without using iso, or a proven product that is natural but wont have any negative side effect?

Or are there other bubblers in the market that I can take apart and clean them with a brush, soap and warm water?

Try using degummed hemp fiber instead of water. Just a little bit pulled through a downstem collects most off the oils that deposit into the water and on the glass. Then vape the oil soaked hemp fiber. Tasty treats. Makes cleaning much easier too. You can also put your glass piece into a large vegetable steamer and let it steam away the rest of the residue.

Chez, highly recommend @Ratchett 's silicone plugs + PBW (powdered brewery wash) = crystal clear glass in a flash.....

PBW was developed for beer brewery industry to clean their equipment and be food safe.
Ratchett's plugs so you can totally fill bubbler and PBW pre-mixed with warm/hot water so it is totally dissolved before entering bubbler. See picture below

I just cleaned an 8" glass mouthpiece and a hydratube this evening. A cup of hot water mixed with 1/3 teaspoon of PBW. Filled and let sit 30 seconds. Dumped a little out so I could shake shake shake and sparkling in 5 minutes.
Rinsed a couple times with distilled water so no water chem stains. I also fill water pieces with distilled water.

Be sure to pull apart the fibers and get a nice flufy bit. Less is best. Keep the fibers out of the heating area if possible but no worries either way save if you're nuking it. Unless of course its soaked in oils then yumm.

What vaporizer(s) do you use as Ratchett has some other interesting/useful pices.

PBW gets glass sparkling clean and sanitized I would say as brewers use it to clean their big brew kettles and valves that they cannot clean manually--- And some here run it in their dishwashers to clean the innards.

Regarding hemp fiber filters: I use in different pieces and my glass stays WAY cleaner. It especially filters out the tiny chunks of dried herb that get sucked up from the heat chamber. I go about 5X as long between cleanings vs without a filter. What does make it to the glass is higher quality golden goodness.
Without a filter, the deposits were speckled with tiny tiny pieces of herb.
See picture below of a hybrid I use: miniVAP Flexicone basket with filter, in Herbalizer, with hydratube.
Assembled Flexicone and pieces on left. I ended up using thinner hemp filter after experimenting ----you don't want draw to be too restrictive.

You said you tried natural ways, but didn't mention Cranberry Extract. That keeps the glass from getting cloudy, with just hot water rinses in between sessions. Use 2-4 drops depending on your bubbler's size.

You can also try dissolving a lot of salt into some water, until it becomes oversaturated, and the salt can no longer dissolve. Put that in the bubbler, and shake it around, for a good interior abrasive. Then just use hot water to get it out. Every once in a while, I'd at least run something safe and antibacterial through it, regardless of how clean it looks.

What vaporizer(s) do you use as Ratchett has some other interesting/useful pices.

I use an E nano and a Volcano, mostly a Volcano lately since it enhances the effects of the lesser quality bud that is currently available here.

Yeah I saw that Ratchett has some neat stuff for the Enano.

Have you used the volcano before? If so how does the herbalizer compare to it? It certainly looks like a very well made unit.

I definitely recommend you try the Cranberry Extract. Nature's Answer Cranberry Extract works really well, and is pretty cheap. $10 will last months.

I'm a stickler for lean glass at the start of every session (including a clean GonG), and I would never want to be without Cranberry Extract. I personally use ISO and salt to sterilize and fully clean my pieces, but now I do it much less frequently since hot water rinses get the piece sparkling clean.

As for the antibacterial, I'm not sure what you could use, but what about something like Hydrogen Peroxide, or dish soap?. You'll just want to pump a lot of water through the piece regardless of what chemicals you use to sterilize it. If you need something stronger, you could look into PBW, but I've never used that stuff, so I don't know too much about it.

Cool. Thanks. I just started reading on star san as the sanitizer that brewers use along with pbw, Im wondering if this is also safe to use on a bubbler. They state its an acidic food grade sanitizer, that is oderless and tasteless.

Is it possible that cleaning your glass with cranberry extract could leave s VERY trace ppm of the phytonutrients even after rinsing?
I'm so glad I found this thread, no longer will I clean my glass with poison.

I too highly recommend pbw. I think the stuff works great. I alternate between doing quick ISO washes and doing soaks of the pbw.

Some folks on here also like to do soaks of simple green, but I feel like it takes quite awhile to eat away at any film on the glass and just find the PBW in warm water to be a superior solution.

OP is probably not rinsing the piece enough is it causes issues afterwards.
Rinse it 3 times minimum with hot water. Also make sure to fill the whole piece with water so you get the fumes out by displacing them.
If it would still give you issues its probably placebo or some iso got trapped somewhere somehow
(i have no idea how that could happen, maybe if you don't clean it enough, some could remain trapped in the undisolved condensate)

Is it strictly ISO that your body hates so much, what about different solvents?
Acetone is very powerful solvent and it disolves resin way faster than ISO, I think it's even shinier and more crystal-clear when I clean with acetone.

PBW is the real deal. IMO, it helps to heat some water (really hot but not boiling) and melt the PBW in that before pouring into the piece. Leave in for five minutes, repeat, final rinse with distilled water and looks like new.

Now, I love Ratchett's stuff and buy from him. But for stopping up joints and mouthpieces there are some alternatives available.

The residue is cannabinoids, non polar compounds. Some of the above-mentioned methods do not include dissolving, like isopropyl alcohol does. Easily found alternatives are normal alcohol (ethanol) which can be natural. Potable os quite expensive but it makes a great tincture. Other solvents are hexane and acetone, those however are not edible, you need to process the dried solution by further purification if it is to be used for dabs or edibles.

Just washed my herbolizer with salt (I put some inside then shake for a moment), then I ad some white vinegar, shake again, then fill with hot water, let for a moment, shake again and rinse with water!
My herbolizer went from diiiiirty to clean in a few minutes :-)

Another vote for HOT water rinses first and then white vinegar!
What i have also been doing is adding a small amount of baking soda to the vinegar.
It foams like mad and then i fill the rest of the WT with HOT water and let it sit for a while.

Rinse with HOT water a few times and it is shiny and new again!
