I think me and you sold for the opposite reasons. I never could get the vapor I was looking for from a solo.
Im not saying its a bad vape. Its a great beginner vape.

Sounds like a technique issue. The vapors there, plenty of thoroughly milked pieces in the solo thread..some of my own! Your comparing a ~$120 unit to $300+ portables that don't fit the OP's criteria. Judging by your posts here (and on several other threads where you randomly insist on bashing the solo) you have a hard time considering the fact that many peoples (including some VERY experienced vaporists!) differ than yours.
We get it, you don't like the solo. Your reasoning is you couldn't get the vapor you were looking for. Thousands of happy solo owners, atleast a couple hundred here would call you wrong.
Its just preference. I think of the solo as a chill session vape, I own others and they serve different purposes. I'm not claiming the solo is the end all by any stretch, but it has a niche and fills it well.

Wrong we can compare whatever we like especially when the portables are nearing the quality of desktops like the mighty and crafty
I can get some gigantic kick in the chest flavor filled rips from my old solo and my air. If you have not tried it through water I would advise that as well. II like letting it heat soak in at 5 lights for about 5 minutes and then rip it through a D-020 bubbler with a gong for giant hits. Then kinda mix it around in the GonG with a dental pick. Let it heat soak for another 3 minutes and do it again, then scrape/dump out and crush by hand, reload and vape at 6 through water. After that use it at my leisure, every couple of minutes. Otherwise I like doing 3-4-5-6 through water if I want to take my time.
It's good to share a difference of opinion while being very respectful. I respect people's opinions who did not find it a winner for them. For me it was probably the very best $160 I ever spent.
Bottom line is will it work for you? Solo/Air holds its value well if you don't like it. It takes a little bit of practice though. One of my friends pretty much picked it right up but, it took me a while to get used to it and I even learned a new technique from him almost a year after I got that vape.
Oh yeah, someone mentioned vapes that use butane lighters as a heat source. That might be something to look into but I don't know how stealthy they are. I have one on my list to get eventually.
Whatever your choice, I hope you find one that works well for you!

i sold my herbie for 350 becasue the daisy had made it a no brainer.
blew my mind that a 150 dollar vape could out perform something i originally paid 860 for....
you have gotten my interest though. and for that i say damn you! my wallet is not going to like this...

I would say the Air, you can get it for £150 from vapefiend, well worth the extra £20 if portability is key for you.
Matches all your other criteria as well.

I agree with Scott A. I'm personally not too impressed for the Solo but for 125 it's a unit I'd recommend if you want it easy and lengthy. It doesn't get me where I need to be but I haven't had any friends dislike it's ease or flavor..
But it does get better..
I personally prefer the Firewood if we are reaching the 150 range. And many butane vapes for me are more worth having than the Solo.

Definitely not a technique issue. I actually find that kind of insulting because you are basically saying the only reason I didnt like the solo is I didnt know how to use it and that couldnt be any further from the truth.
Why do you have such a problem with me posting my opinion just because I dont praise the solo as much as others on this forum?

I don't man, it really sounds like a technique issue. You can get thick, dense vapor from the solo, its just slow slow (that's my only issue with the unit).
The way I get the densest hits from mine is jacking it to 7 remove it from the gong in between hits and 30 seconds to 1 minute heat soaks between rips through glass pulling very slow. Technique and knowing how to use something are two entirely different things.
I could care less if you "praise" the unit, but it rubs me a little when you act condescending implying its only good for beginners. Different strokes for different folks, I'm currently on a butane kick and love the thick quick hits the genre offers but sometimes I just want to kick back and relax and have a chill session and that's where the solo excels. There's validity in a variety of vaporizers for a lot of us.
Whatever though, live and let live. It looks like OP's made a decision, let's hope he's content with it. I'm sure he will be!

Hell, many many still rocking the Original w/pa for their Daily Driver .
So, in turn... Yup.. Great for beginners, also great for the Va-Professional .

Often a portable unit you see on the market is more like a throw away vaporizer because once the battery is toast you have to throw it away. Not so with the Solo. The battery can be replaced by the owner.
Just recently an FCer had a post that he had dropped his Solo while bike riding, he broke the glass stem but not the Solo. It's a very sturdy vaporizer that has been tested by time, also by hundreds of Solo owners.
My Solo that I bought in 2012 still runs like new. The battery is still at about an hour of run time. I had put it away for a year and I just got it back out. I gifted another Solo that I had to my brother. Now I have my older model and a Solo I bought a year and a half ago.

The Arizer Solo is the best flower vape I have ever used! Gives me the biggest throat kicking hits. I paid $300.00 about 3 years ago but as far as portables go, nothing can beat it for flowers! Y0ou have to make sure the flowers are in small pieces and you have to rotate the flower after a few hits. THEN, after about 5 good hits, take the flower out then crush it in the palm of your hand. Put it back in but dont pack it down tight, that next few hits are going to kick your throat and give the BIGGEST hits. I normally use the power on 3-5 green lights. Remember to rotate the glass pipe during the hit.... makes a difference.

I have an EQ, a Vapor Bros original, and two Solos. I find the Solos are used more often than the desktops, just because they are so easy to use and clean. As a senior on a limited income the price was a huge factor. Nice to know the money was spent well, as few vapes have a track record as good as the Solo.

I don't own a Solo (an Air is a quick change Solo really?) but it is the Colt Peacemaker of the vape world. Universal, rugged, gets shit done without fuss & if you mess with it it WILL put you on your back in an awful hurry. An 1873 Colt will kill you dead just as well as a 10mm Glock & I think of the aged, rugged & grizzled Solo as exactly that.

Besides its reliability, versatility, good battery life and affordability!, two other areas where I think it shines for the price range are,
The ability to prefill and cap stems allowing multiple sessions in windy, outdoor environments (or saves you stooping over in public looking like you're filling something),
and, the ability to store these stems in sealed tubes on the move,
which allows for low smell in a compact package.
There are many options for stem type, load size, screens, temperature, water tools! I've made my own whip and pushed it onto an Air tipped stem, and did tiny 1 hit loads at high temps through DIY water!
I had overused and became bored of one stem lately and have fallen back in love with another that I hadn't used in a while.
Yes the Mighty and Crafty may well be good (And I too will buy one soon!), but if smell and size is an issue, it's probably going to take up a little more space making things smellproof.
And yes, as for price,
I just realized I can get two new Solos AND a new Air, with warranty from an authorized reseller, for the RRP of the Mighty!

Are we talking one hit extraction of a full (~0.15) bowl? Or using a domed screen to reduce the bowl size a bit?? I've never tried but I think I might have to!
I've got to say that I have owned quite a few vapes and the Solo/Air are both outstanding and I would buy them again in a heartbeat. They can absolutely produce as much vapor as many desktops and I sort of dig the 10/12 minute session timer (really 20/24 minutes, let's be honest.)
In my experience, they do not taste as good as pure convection vapes and they do smell sort of like poop while they are heating up for some reason, but I still recommend both the Solo and the Air. They are definitely not just beginner vapes.

@StonerSloth I haven't weighed my load but I suspect it's closer to .1 and I now use a domed screen (with the dome down) but in that video I just just using a normal flat screen.
With a domed screen positioned with the dome up the bowl size is at least halved. Very easy to get a 1 hit extraction.
There is normally a wispy hit left afterwards but its very small.
Give it a go. What's the worst that could happen?
