Aeropress? (Coffee Thread)

So I was listening to the Joe Rogan Experience recently and he had a coffee expert on named Peter Giuliano.

Im not into coffee at all but after listening to the podcast ive come to the conclusion that knowing how to make a good cup of coffee will come in handy, kinda like knowing your wines. A trip downtown and I now have my new coffee toys:

Now I should preface this with my coffee experience which is limited at best. The only coffee that ive ever had would be considered 'fast food'(Timmy's, Starbucks, etc.) so my palate is inexperienced and uneducated. Now with that said, the coffee I made with the Aeropress had a very distinct quality about it when compared to fast food variety I am accustomed to, it was not bitter. I usually like my coffee with sugar and some milk/cream but with this Ethiopian Limu I take it black with a little sugar.

Any other FC'ers Aeropressing?

Yes. :)

There's another coffee thread around here where we've discussed various methods of brewing, and which has some great instructions, should you wish any.

Yup. I made the switch for French Press to AeroPress about 8 years ago and never looked back. I've also been using that stainless disk for last 4 years. It's amazing that such a simple and inexpensive device can work so well. Kinda reminds me of the MFLB in that regard.

I don't know if you are doing this, but I strongly suggest NOT to follow the instructions that AeroPress gives you, but rather use the inverted method. Makes for a much richer cup of java.

I havent been on the forums for a while and they seem to have moved things around. I couldnt find the search button to look for another coffee thread. I should have known there was another coffee thread!

I actually use the inverted method and steep for 1min30sec before I press. Oddly enough the person who won the 2013 Aeropress championship used the standard method and not inverted.

So far the only difference ive noticed between the paper filter and the stainless is the amount of sediment I get at the bottom of my cup. Also, I get more of an after taste or mouth feel as many people call it.

Any suggestions on what type of beans I should get next?
