Hi everyone, I started off posting in the Medical forum three years ago, but since that was about vaping and I've shifted to edibles, I thought it would be worth trying here instead.
I never got on with vaping, it didn't seem to do much for me and I kept getting Restless Leg Syndrome flares (apparently this is a thing, I've asked around). Tried CBD, very expensive and no obvious effects. (There may be some CBD oil around somewhere, if you think it's worth adding in.)
Tried infusing ABV from a friend into coconut oil and lecithin, and while it doesn't do anything obvious for me, my partner takes them for anxiety attacks. We're not sure if they help or are placebo, and there is certainly room for improvement.
Another friend has brought me a gram of weed, and I plan to infuse it into oil. Could you help me run through how to do it this way, dosing and such?
First of all, do I grind it before or after decarbing, or both? Do I buy any particular type of grinder or just nab something cheap off Amazon?
How long should I decarb for? 100C seems to be a popular temperature, but I'm seeing all sorts of times. It'll be in a ceramic dish with a lid in the oven, and then several layers of foil.
Should I include some ABV? I still have plenty, although it'll be a year or so old.
How do I figure out an appropriate dilution to get the dose right? It goes into a silicone mini ice cube tray that creates little 1ml cubes. This is for anxiety, and possibly pain management, rather than aiming for getting high. I'd rather have a smaller dose we can increase than overshoot and be non-functional.
Are repeated heating/cooling cycles worth it? I'm seeing different opinions on those as well.
Right now the plan is not to strain it, as it's a hassle and when I tried it with muslin I lost so much of the oil. I had a read around and it seems that this is OK as an approach.
