Advice for Vape Purchase

Hey guys,

I owned a SSV a few years ago, and I loved it. Not one thing was wrong with it. I guess the only thing I would've changed is a way for the wand to be secured to the heating ceramic so I wouldn't have to hold it on there. Even then, I think they had a clamp available for that. Regardless, I got it for $190, brand new, at the time. I thought it was the bang for the buck. I had great flavor, good efficiency, no hassle in operating it, big hits, and great control over the temperature. I took a lot of time to acquaint myself with the SSV. I know throughout my research on this forum, many of you have commented on how one needs to "get to know" the SSV, and I made sure I did just that. I figured out how there was a correlation between temperature and the strength + length of each inhale I did (I hope that makes sense). Sadly, I ended up selling it quite some time ago because I went through a phase where I thought I was compromising my quality of life with the use of cannabis. I guess you could say I became insecure.

When I used the SSV, I used it for both sessions and also the one to two-hitter quitter. The sessions were more due to the fact I was in college ad I lived with roommates who also benefited from the SSV. However, now I really only do one or two hits at night, and that's about it. I'm currently just using my bong or rolling a joint. When I used the SSV, I attached the whip to my bong to hydrate the vapor. I found the "raw vapor" to be awfully harsh.

I know you guys, especially the veterans have seen this question many times, but I guess my question to you folks is what do you think I should purchase? On the plug-ins, it appears from what I've read throughout the day the E-Nano seems to be the winner. Personally, I found myself drawn the VapeXhale. Which leads me to share what I'm looking for with you.

My preferences are the following:
1). Easy to operate
2). Great flavor
3). Reliable
4). Easily attachable to a bong or some form of glass with water in it to hydrate it
5). Temperature control
6). Plug-in Vaporizing
7). "Reasonable" heat-up time
8). Ready to use out of the box and not much assembly, if any at all, required.
9). Looks cool (Silly, but if it's going to sit on my desk or table, it needs to have some aesthetics).
10). My vape will be used more for just me and just a couple of hits maximum a day. However, having the option for more session-like vaping would be a plus.
11.) And actually, pretty important, is more like smoking than huffing What do I mean? What I do not and did not like about the Volcano is I feel like I'm huffing versus smoking. Total turn off for me. I like the smoking experience, without all the harshness.
12). Lastly, I'm flexible with my budget. Well, if money isn't a problem, why ask? Well, I just want to make sure I'm buying what I really want and what I'm actually going to use.

I consulted this forum for my first purchase six years ago, and I'm so glad I did. I normally consult people before I make any sort of purchase in any aspect of my life. I think it's a responsible thing to do to make sure I cover all my bases before purchasing anything. Therefore, thanks for any and all of your feedback to help me make the right decision.

Thanks,

-Lars

If you liked the SSV, you will love the Life Saber. Its a lot like the SSV but without the whip, and a direct glass vapor pathway. And with the shorty WPA, you can load very small bowls comparable to a log. Perfect IMO for a few huge smoke-style rips.

Well, you definitely did your homework here, although I think your question is more suited for the "Ask FC" area, but the mods will fix it, so no worries.

Sounds like a Nano or an EVO, both at higher temps, would be perfect for you.

With the Nano, you'd just have to buy some GonGs to mate with your glass, while with the Evo you'd just need to make sure to have some glass already, preferably 18mm or you'd need an adapter - or just buy an HT with it.

Nice thing about the Nano is that you can just easily leave it on all day at a low voltage (turn the temp dial down to like 4 or 5) and then crank it up when you're getting ready. Doesn't take long at all.

So you can use it for just a couple hits a day without using much power, or you can use it to pass around with your mates.

Unfortunately, the maker of them is running low on heaters. If you want one, you better inquire now, or you may have to wait a while.

I totally agree with hoptimum. I have an LSV and like you, two hits is all I need, but I want those two hits to not only taste great but also to have the ability to produce HUGE vapor clouds with no draw restriction. For me, the LSV fits that bill perfectly. The LSV is basically a whipless SSV. Same heater setup, same controls.

Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for your quick response! I actually ordered the LSV last night! Initially, when the LSV was released, I was looking forward to purchasing it. What put my fire out was during my research yesterday. It seemed like a number of people were hating on the LSV and 7th floor in general. Sure, I think when the LSV was initially released, the price may have been a bit steep. I'm glad to see fans of their products.

Additionally, I'm also grateful that veteran members of this community replied to my thread. It definitely made me confident to make the purchase. The concept of the EVO is super cool, but I basically will have my make-shift version with the LSV.

Thanks again for all of your responses! And that picture from Universal City is comedy! What are the odds of that? Inspiration? I think so! I'll keep you posted on the progress of the purchase, once I receive it. I picked free shipping. No need to spend extra money on shipping speed! :-)

Happy New Year everyone!

I see lots of you guys suggesting the LSV... i found one website that's offering an Extreme Q for 135 bucks and a SSV for 225... I think they sell the LSV for 221.

I am leaning heavily on the SSV, but for a hundred bucks less, the Extreme Q is hard to beat.
I'm in the same boat as OP is! This is my very first vaporizer and I want to make sure I'm getting a good one that isn't too expensive.

The Da Buddha is cheaper than the Silver Surfer, but the internals are the same, and it functions in much the same way.
