Advice for an electric vape in the old continent

Hey everyone!
Sorry for the wall of text.

So, my friend Dan has been sick for some months; he's a great guy and doesn't deserve any of this.
Fuck cancer.

Anyway.
Dan was a heavy smoker (both cigs and spliffs with hash in it, multiple times a day): the doc says he absolutely needs to quit tobacco, and for weed she straight-up recommended vaporizing - which I found very cool btw!

So I gave him my Dynavap M, but after a week of usage he's not 100% satisfied. He says that it's a nice little thing, but he needs quite a bit of material to get proper high and the whole process is a bit fiddly for his taste.

Now, I know very well that it takes time to understand and appreciate the vape high, it was like that for me too, and my advice has been to stick with it (he's only been using it for a week).
But to be fair, before that he went almost a month without smoking anything and he wants to get something more suitable for his use, so I'm not gonna stop him from getting a new toy.
I'll get to try it too, so everybody wins

Dan's a very social person, and to never look back imho he needs a vape that he can take out of his pocket outside a bar and nonchalantly use while his friends smoke.
Stealth is not that important, as we live in a permissive country, but the portability factor is. That's why I'd say an electric vape is the logic way to go.

He wouldn't ever stop combusting if he had a choice, so I think he needs an efficient and easy to use vape that will kick his ass to the ground. This, I feel, is the most important aspect to make him forget about the old days.
The possibility to use it effectively with hash and to pair it with a water piece would be distinctive advantages too.

Take into account that we are in Europe, so buying from the US is not really an option (shipping time, customs, warranty).
Budget-wise I would say he can go up to 200€ max, but if something like the Crafty is the way to go I'll convince him to spend more.

Just my two cents and my own experience...

Perhaps the Herborizer TI? If portable, i d recommend the Mighty as a first... quite powerful, easy to use.

In the EU i would say the relative new Fenix Mini Vaporizer is one of the best deals atm at around 80-90€, really small and portable, so far not much to complain about - besides a not to large battery life (4 bowls, there is also a bigger brother only called Fenix) and a missing water connection...

That would leave some € to get something like a vapman for backup and to use with waterpieces.
I also would say vapman is one of the few butane vapes that are almost impossible to burn yourself in contrary to vapcaps or vaponic - an important point for ppl in chemo with a knocked down imune system, any injury should be avoided...

This! +1 from my side. You can get a Fenix Mini for under EUR 90,- from Germany or France and it's a great vape that fits your (Dan's) requirements. Battery life is indeed a bit "meeeeh", but this is depending on Dan's frequency of consumption throughout the day. A powerbank from the spare budget could help if he's a heavy vaper like myself. I simply own 2 of them, gets me through the day and it is charged in under 2h if necessary. It is easy to use, user needs no complicated technique or vape-fu to make it work and it's super stealthy within a group of smokers.

I'll third the tubo evic. It's on demand so that it doesn't burn any herb when not inhaling. The software is being updated often based on user suggestions. I think most of us who own one love it. It is as powerful as many desktops.
The one con for your friend is that it is not tiny. It will fit in a pocket but it's not very stealthy.
It is made and exported from Switzerland. It's about $150 USD and I don't know the conversion. You can check out the thread here and see what you think.

You might be right, I'm concerned about budget for a good desktop tho.
I can understand his frustration, because I went through the same process, of balancing the need to have the most satisfying experience possible and not wanting to spend too much money on something you're not sure will work for you.

yes, the Tubo. I just ordered one for myself a week ago, and I will definitely share some sessions with Dan as soon as it arrives, and then maybe gift one to him down the road.
Based on everything I read, it sounds like the perfect vape and I'm super excited
Haven't really suggested it to him now because I believe he wants something available straight away, and a bit more portable (to naturally substitute the ritual of smoking while out).

Been following the Fury/Fenix mini thread for a while and it looks like a great solution. Unfortunately the second version is not available around here (yet?), but it's good to know the old one works good too.

And, by the way: There is practically (device wise) no difference between the Fenix Mini and the Fury 2. It's not that the other silicone that they claim to have chosen and the slightly different firmware are a game changer. The WPA and the cover are nice additions though, but the device itself is nearly identical - at least from a user's perspective.

I think that if he likes vaping he should definitly invest in a desktop unit as soon as possible, in my experience using only electric portables doesn't really work.

Doesn't that depend on the desktop- and the portable? I find the tubo as strong as my desktops. I do tend to use my vb box more than portables or my other desktops but only because it's the first vape I've found mild enough so I don't need water.

Yep some portable is powerful enough to serve as a desktop substitute but having to charge/store/switch batteries for at home use isn't ideal in my opinion.
I also think that the design choices behind a smaller form factor and the need to have the electronics closer to the heater than in a desktop unit can be a limiting factor for the vape life.

Very sorry to hear about your friend. I dislike stories like that all the time. And we think our lives are rough. I would recommend the Tubo or maybe an on demand convection vape.
