Add moisture to the weed before vaping it

Well, its either the medicine or the vape . . . :)
I know that's why I want some suggestions lol. I basically described it as best as I can. Him not curing it wouldn't make a huge difference would it? He told me "I wish I had time to cure it all" but I've gotten it from him in the past and it was "fresh off the tree" like he said this was too, that didnt have issues. I just put some hash in the bowl with that herb and I got a HUGE cloud, I'm guessing that was from the hash. So I know my LSV is not an issue.

Then, imho, you have been lucky. The cut and cure are critical, again imho. If he was willing to short cut the cure, chances are he cut it too early as well. You need to look at your meds under magnification, preferably before they are altered, so you can see what you are getting.

I thought the same, but it's usually good stuff so I never complained until now.. This is why I wish I lived in a medical state. I'm leaving my mason jaropen about 6 feet from my heater vent on my ceiling. Hopefully that will dry it out fast.. I have nothing else to lose.

yeah fresh green herds wont vape so well. it's been a long time since I saw bud that fresh... so i wasn't really thinking about that. but if thats all it is drying it out should do the job.

also in colder climates at different times of the year you need to crank your vape up warmer, O remember this being true for my ssv, and is also true for my lsv.

the other thing that you have no control over was if it was harvested prematurely. then i would be a lot less potent also.

Yeah that's a really good point. He usually does it at the same time I believe. Is there any other variables you can think of? I should ask him if he cut it down early. But the thing is I've bought "mids" before and vaped it, I got good vapor from that as well. So wouldn't the quality of this not really matter?

well what if it's a combination of premature, too wet and who knows what else?

it sucks you got a bad batch though.

I won't find out most likely haha. Hopefully tomorrow it will be okay to vape. If I got it when it was fresh, why would it feel dry?

Unscrupulous growers, after cutting early, will often dry medicine in an oven or dehydrator rather than put the time and energy into a proper cure.

I doubt he did that. He told me he just cut it basically. I don't know what he did.

Yeah I have gotten a batch like this recently.

Found really tiny pinhead size seeds in the ABV, and I could tell it was harvested just a tad early(The grower must of realised it became a Herm and harvested early). It had alot of moisture and clouded up my wand in just a couple days. It got the job done and had a light orange taste, but it was not close to top shelf.

I find I prefer the flowers to be cured and dryed without alot of moisture(It seems to cook the cleanest and taste the best that way to me).

When you first hang mj, the outside of the plant will dry quicker than the interior and stems. It will be crunchy when you jar it, then redistribute moisture in the jar. Same scenario if you dropped it in a bag or some glass. W/o some moisture, the metabolic processes essential to curing do not take place. Typically, plants are jarred at around 30 -35% moisture, after plants have lost about 1/2 their mass. Properly cured flowers should retain 10-15% moisture ideally. Most bacterias and molds cannot grow below 15% and mj begins to powder at around 10%.

Some of the important metabolic processes that occur during curing are:

- conversion of cgb to thc (nonpsychoactive to psychoactive){after 6 months, this process reverses}
- the plant will burn sugars, starches, nitrates and minerals during this time, removing inert materials
- minimal decarboxylization will occur
- terps will go through 'polycyclic aromatization' (gain more complexity to flavor){this also reverses after time and your flowers will become flavorless}
- chlorophyll breaks down, helping flavor, smoothness and appearance

I found pinhead size seeds too.. Or maybe I'm just imagining but I believe they are seeds.. So I left it open in the mason jar for a while then shut it last night and now I vaped some today, I'm getting more vapor then I did before. But the hits aren't really potent at all. I feel high but not that high as I usually get. At least I'm getting some vapor. It seems to be spent a lot faster
too.

When I get from this guy it seems to be good stuff usually but I notice when others bring their mary over, we get more vapor and more hits outta theres then mine 8/10. I'm going to say the reason is him not curing it. Kind of sucks because I get it for around 15-25 dollars cheaper then most but lately it hasn't lived up to it.

Different vapes/users have different optimal moisture contents. If you want to add moisture, a damp paper towel in your container works great. If you want to subtract moisture, a dry paper towel in an enclosed space works as good as anything. Letting the buds air dry will dry the outside too dry and the center not enough.

These are also the same methods used to fluff bricked buds.

I re-moisten dry herb often because I like the herb thoroughly busted apart with nearly intact calyxes,not powdered calyxes. Some vapes apparently like powdered weed though, which is impossible to achieve with moist weed.

In my experience anything that looks like a pinhead seed is actually caterpillar shit. those buggers love bud plant

the caterpillars be like
:mmmm: mmmmhhmmm :bigleaf::leaf::bigleaf::evil:poop:evil:

the growers be like :huh::mad::rant::shrug::myday::nope::argh::bang::goon::worms::horse::doh:
Caterpillars suck!

I have kept my buds as high as 65% and as low as 40% humidity. as long as it grinds fairly well, I don't notice much difference from the high humidity buds to the low ones. maybe a better initial taste from the moister buds but nothing to write home about.

they all end up dried out husks. :)

Just a heads up...when your bovidea packs get hard....jut put some water in a tray and suspend(I use small desert bowls) the pack above the water....they will reabsorb moisture and be ready to serve you...so is no need to buy regularly...I found this tip after ordering my 2nd 70 gram "brick" @ $80 each....doh!!!!!....but I also store 1/2 lbs per bag...6 months from now they will be the same as when they got fully cured....hth

Well, its either the medicine or the vape . . . :)
I've suffered both! (luckily in the past though)...

Have definitely had herbs that lacked vapor until processed at higher heat, but have also had herbs that barely produced vapor regardless of heat. Sometimes the herbs are "bunk".

I'm a bit confused about which is best myself - I am in the SF Bay Area and the herbs I get are usually sticky and need to be pulled apart or ground. I heard about the herb in CO being drier and people liking that, so I put some in a jar without a boveda pack, it dried out, I was able to 'grind it' just by rubbing it between my fingers, tasted great - not really sure which is better

I've tried dried buds and slightly moist buds and I prefer the dry. Boveda packs are great for curing and re-hydrating over dried buds. Also B.P.'s keep your buds in good condition by keeping them moist enough so that the Trics are not easily knocked off. I always take some bud out of my BP curing jar to dry out a little more before consuming. It's dry enough to roll a joint and smoke straight out of the jar but I prefer it a little drier, seems to bring out the taste and makes it a bit smoother IMO. The more I used the BP's the more I like them.

In my experience you want to have dry to the core trichromes for optimal vaporization. Over drying destroys taste, so that's a matter of timing with your curing. Opening and closing your stash regularly

smokum

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
When I 'smoked' herb I preferred dry with very slight spongy feel in the buds core (perfect cure ?) But now that I vape herb only I prefer the bud on the slightly moist (more fresh) side to start at a lower temperature (mmmm flavor) followed by ramping up the temp as it dries during the session to complete the herbs profile it offers.

This of course depends on a strain's aromatic flavonoids (terpenes), as some just don't offer a connoisseur type flavor profile that I may enjoy IMHO
