Acid Reflux / Gerd and Vaping + Munchies. How do y’all counter it?

Sad to admit, that this thread became relevant for me. It started two weeks ago. I have a lot of health issues (consequently I eat very healthy), but this is actually the first time in my life I've had reflux that strong and that long. First I thought it was a cake, than my breathing, than I suggested some bacteria or else responsible for an inflammation or something like that. Probably a combination of many factors. Now I'm starting to see, that it also has something to do with the tiny bong / big bubbler I've bought two and a half weeks ago. I haven't used a bong or anything with a carb hole (we call it kick) for many many many years (with combustion back then), until a very vaping-intensive weekend recently. Due to the reflux I couldn't even use my normal mouthpiece with my Vapman as I used to anymore, which is why I took a short but unintended vape-break. I ate differently (much less) and took Pantoprazol a few days. I did some exercise to relax my diaphragm which brought me to this insight: It seems like I was always drawing the vapor directly down-to-lung which wasn't good for my diaphragm. I've tried to change that completely to mouth-to-lung last night and it seems to have not that much negative consequences as DTL. I have to concentrate really hard to stick to MTL and I think I look like I'm cartoonishly mimicking Sherlock Holmes as I am sipping on my pipe :sherlock:

Edit: I forgot to mention my main treatment which is basically limestone minerals (in my case drinking so called healing clay which is loess and therefore mostly silt not clay). This buffers the acidity.

(zombie) Woof.
About 15-20 years ago I had a bout with acid reflex, and even tho I wasn't really vaping much, if at all then (carts and my mflb came soon), I blame the super hoppy beer craze that was all the rage at the time that really triggered it... it was pretty brutal, too... but I did a full series of that Prilosec (Omeprazole) shit and BOOM. GONE. Never came back either.

But yeah, def can't go wrong with a good ol 'nanner and yogurt every morning.

Also, I find, the more I vape, particularly with concentrates, the less I eat...🤔 Like seriously, when I get super, super stoned, I usually don't wanna eat/snack... :brow::smug:

I ate differently (much less) and took Pantoprazol a few days.
Just the mention!
I was sorta Pantoprazole- dependent for, idr, 8 years. I had my very first endoscopy/colonoscopy and a small stomach ulcer was detected. I already was having some symptoms of acid reflux (maybe from the ulcer?) but didn't do much except for some tums now and then.
Pantoprazole was described as being able to reduce acid and thereby let the ulcer heal. A few years hence and endoscopy showed that the ulcer was gone. But I stayed with Pantoprazole for the acid reflux relief.
I finally gave it up about 6 months ago and eat tums like gumdrops now. And I use Famotadine, 1 or 2 per day.

The BIG thing I have noticed? I had been having issues for years with my feet swelling, sometimes I couldn't really put shoes on.
My Dr. looked, some other specialist checked circulation in my legs, etc., a general neuropathy scan, no one really came up with any ideas. But since stopping the Pantoprazole, feet have not been swelling at all.

But, yeah, I like my vapes to have a very open draw!

OMG, I feel I should mention, I almost never need doctors until I turned about 50! Now I'm glad I've got pretty good insurance...

I’m on a tolerance break due to my gerd acting up along with new employment. what has helped me so far

Prilosec or Nexium 40MG every morning 30-60mins before breakfast.

Switch to cold brew coffees as they’re 70% less acidic.

Always eat bread or banana before coffee.

Avoid any triggers which you can google (high fats, sodium, acidity foods)

Certain Teas help soothe the throat.
High alkaline water.
Aloe Vera Juice.
More fiber makes a massive difference.
Certain Probiotics help over time.
Not eating 3-4 hours before bed. If you’re hungry just drink water. If you’re desperate only stick with sourdough bread / banana.
Dinners I’ve been sticking with veggies, chicken, sushi, etc.

My biggest issue was munchies and constantly eating junk food before bed.

Inhaling anything makes it worse so I have no choice, but to stay sober. I’ve tried edibles and that caused a bad flare up so sober December for me. I did it to myself.. It is what it is though. I look at it as an opportunity to catch-up on rem sleep and work on my overall health.

Hope this helps. Happy holidays y’all!
