after all i purchased the newport i didnt find vector...
BURNZOMATIC 35% N-butane 65% isobutanes $3.98 at home depot in US
Vector is 18% propane and "filtering" does nothing to gasses
As for crackle, Vacuum purge your oil folks (while it is warm enough to just slide around your container)
Ja, its not super-critical co2 or hexane but it get the job done well with no residue. Test it on a mirror by spraying it for a couple seconds, then let the frost melt look for any residue that is not water. Whatever butane you choose just remember to look up it's MSDS.Are you talking about the stuff they sell right next to their torches?
CentiZen said:Most people around where I am use NIBO to do their runs and it makes nasty crackly oil with a bad aftertaste. I buy cases of London (which as I learned from a distributor; is the exact same product as Colibri rebranded) every couple of months and save quite a bit of money that way.
Since I can get the 250ml cans of Newport for the same price as the 90ml cans of Collibri I just wanted to ask if anyone had used both brands and noticed any differences? I'd rather not pay nearly three times the price for something if I don't have to.
Also does anyone have any tips for judging when you've put enough butane through the material? I'd rather not put more butane through than I have to so I can minimize contaminants.
I thought we could start a thread and list off the good to go brands of butane that we know are ready to be used to make our lovely oils.
What to look for on the bottle when you are checking an unknown brand:
A label saying "near zero impurities"
it written on the bottle that is is 50 ppm or less impurities
The mirror test:
This is a standard test you can do to see what level of impurities you have in your unknown quality can of butane.
1. Spray the butane (a 1 second blast or something short) so that it blasts onto a mirror. It will spray a rig on butane on the glass and go white.
2. Wait for the butane to evaporate into the air. now look at what is left behind on the mirror
3. If you see any discoloration/white rings these are the impurities (make sure you clean the mirror first of course right?)
Note: Now I recommend you try this with an accepted can of butane too because they do not leave invisible marks either. there WILL be some residual on the mirror even with these types! So I suggest you try it with 2 cans (One you know is good to go and your tester can of fuel) so that you can fairly compare and judge for yourself.

Here in Canada you buy a 12 pack case of butane cans (300ml) for 65 bucks taxes in. that works out to 5.40 CDN a can.
thx for the update caliwabo, unfortunately due to new rules (by new i mean like a year ago or so) i cannot edit the front page.
but I'm glad to hear you found another good brand for the uk/eu members
About $36 including shipping for the same amount in X7. Not a factor as you still save a boat load money and you control how well made your medicine is!Here in Canada you buy a 12 pack case of butane cans (300ml) for 65 bucks taxes in. that works out to 5.40 CDN a can.

has anyone herd of whip it butane 5x think there is 7 and even 10x. used it on a run it actually came out nice. I am a Newport fan but haved used crappy power5x in a pinch 'half the price' but noticed this Whip It tane was very pleasant no oder or left over residual taste. it sais its cold filtered? not sure what that means
I really only prefer to use Lucienne and Newport. I actually prefer Lucienne, it has tested cleaner than Newport according to the studies graywolf at skunkpharmresearch has done, and it's even a bit cheaper. Same distributor/distiller(Keen). I think all the butane made in the U.K. with the "near zero impurities" logo is made in the same facility, just different blends of hydrocarbons, per the purchasers request.
No testing done for residual content on the Capital butane yet though.
and just for fun http://www.luciennebutane.com/ yes, you read that correctly. "won't taint the flavor of your cigar, tobacco, or BHO extraction" LMAO
has anyone bought from http://capitalbutane.com/ ??
MYSTERY OIL CONTROVERSY
***Our n-Butane supplier(right here in the United States) had given us their assurance our product would not contain any "Mystery Oil." After personally running two different tests, one open loop @ 12 total cans dispensed, and a second test in a closed loop system with 20 cans dispensed, we found NO TRACES OF ANY MYSTERY OIL!
