ABV under a microscope

Hey All,
I vape high quality strains at about 365F- 374F, last night while looking at a strain my friend brought over I looked at his under my mini microscope to see the crystals, there were plenty even though it was basically regs...Then out of curiosity I looked at some of my vaped remains under said scope and COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW MANY TRICHS WERE LEFT AND VERY VISIBLE. :brow:

Has anyone else checked it out??? :p

Question the second: Do any of you have any suggestions how to minimize lung burn, or help it to feel better naturally. As I said I try to use lower temps, and sometimes use water filtration, but I still experience a little mild lung discomfort since I began vaping about a year ago. I never experienced that in 31 years of combusting, so any tips might be helpful.

Feel free to email me if you don't wish to post here...HAPPY 420!!!!!
:peace:

Lost in Thought
I think we have had this discussion/picture thread a good while back. I cant remember who or who else did this back yonder but I do remember it was rather interesting. :D

Also the lung burn. I know it sounds silly, but does it happen regardless how large of hits you take? Have you tried taking smaller/thinner hits? I know that hitting the SSV will choke the fuck out of me if Im not careful, while the LB is a much more concerted effort.

Frankly I have tried everything. I normally vape no more than 3 lightly packed elbow packs in my EQ a day. ( about a joint a day) I have tried just my launch box as a substitute for a couple of days to give my lungs a break from the EQ. It comes and goes, but I am hoping that it will not become a problem that makes me quit vaping once and for all. because frankly no other medicine works. :|

I just converted all of my combusting friends to vaping and smoking e cigs, so it's not only my lungs that are at stake, but also my reputation

Thanks for the reply! I will try the hot water in my AV. It does sound soothing.

I have done a fair amount of cooking with my abv and it is almost as good as cooking with full strength. Though I am not much of an edibles person...

If you are getting an effect and seeing trichomes/crystals even after the material changes colour from green to dark brown, then it sounds like whatever you're doing to get the good stuff out of the herbs might not be quite optimal yet?

The dark brown abv I'm collecting has no visible crystals under magnification (in stark contrast to the glittery raw material!) and no discernible effect on me when I've tested it by combustion other than a sore throat.

Is your extraction temperature a tad low or is something else amiss? Alternatively maybe it's just such wicked bud that even after you're totally vaked it's still chock full of goodness - that's a problem I'd like to have...

Not wanting to hijack this thread - this may be obvious to everyone else, but I just discovered that vaping and posting at the same time is a bad idea.

It's worth noting IMO that some prefer a low-temperature vaporization experience. In this light, it seems problematic to say that someone is vaping at too low of a temperature IMO (unless of course its too low for vaporization!) if there are still actives present in the ABV. fubar, it sounds like you prefer a higher extraction temperature (?), many (myself included) like what the lower-temps offer and don't push it past what some would consider 'done.' In this way, my ABV also has quite a bit left to offer, I'd just rather not utilize those higher-temperature compounds in a vaping scenario (but rather for cooking edibles or making a topical application).

Fair enough - it's a question of taste and there's no right answer - I didn't mean to imply that hotter/longer was 'more' correct...

I guess my post was because the OP seemed surprised that what might have been lightly extracted abv still has crystals and packs a munchies punch - a heavier extraction process - might be longer or hotter or both will probably decrease the goodness content of the leftovers but, yes of course it's a highly personal thing.

For the record: my own preference is a lower temperature (<356F) compared to other people I know, but I do keep hot air moving through it until all the good stuff is gone - at least partly because good raw materials are not so easy to find around here so conservation becomes an issue.
