ABV Coconutoil

Hi,

I noticed people making a coconutoilextraction with abv.

I'm willing to try it myself, if somebody could help me figure this out.

Planning on making it with a chocolate melter or electrycal fryer.

What is the perfect heating temperature in order for full CBD/CBN extraction??

For how long can i let it heat in order for full CBD/CBN extraction?

What's best regular coconut oil or extra virgin coconutoil?

Thanks. Peace :peace:

Anyone has an idea of the temp? Still digging out which temperature is the best in order to heat
the oil together with the abv. Found different results on the web. Not really sure which one to follow.

I have been lucky with low heat (~50°C), it depends on how long you want the process to be (more heat gets it done quicker) and you have to know the higher the heat, the worse the taste. I'd say it's good to let it sit in there at least a hour, but you can also let it sit for an unlimited time.

You almost got me into making some. I still have to find a better method to strain. Strain with a cheesecloth gets only 50% of the fat you put into ! Water separation with multiple strains and boils up to 80%. It's still not enough. I really want a method to separate the plant matter efficiently.

Don't throw the fat herbal residue, rub your feet with it. It will get you relaxed.

Hey Roger D, do you still use the gravity extraction method ABV oil maker? I have the supplies for this and may feel inspired this weekend.

I use extra virgin organic coconut oil myself. I also use a double boiler to heat the oil above boiling water. Works well for me.

Straining is a PITA. Best method I've found lately is using a nylon tea strainer basket or for larger quantities I use 2 very small hole strainers stacked as shown below:

Found the nylon version at a health food store: http://www.republicoftea.com/t/Product.aspx?p=V00978

Found a version of these at a kitchen supply store: http://www.dreamstime.com/royalty-free-stock-photography-small-strainer-image8118797

The gravity method is great, but like others you still end up with a lot of the fat trapped in the plant matter. Currently I'm working multiple boils and strains, using water to ease the separation process, with the wait for it to get cold in the fridge, till you get that pure solid butter on top.

I'm on this method because it allows to only use inox, even for the strainer. I like the cleanest materials.

Still need to purchase this chocolate melting machine.

I wonder how warm this thing gets already searched but no temperature specs.

Well i'm not really planning on straining the plant material from the oil. In fact i will grind my ABV fine with a coffee grinder, let it simmer in the oil. And just add to whatever mix you want cake, muffin or a brownie mix. I got a really tasty protein brownie mix recipe based on coconutoil, will post it later in the cooking section.

Regarding straining I just cut up some lady's stocking. Place it over your jar and pour the contents on top of it. I won't all go through but give it a good squeeze and you should get almost all of the goodness. I just throw whatever is left including the stocking in the trash. It works well particularly if cheese cloth is hard to acquire.

I have been doing a whole batch under my infrared lamp, this time I have been placing it just under, it's stronger than I thought, goes up to 120°C !

With the strongest squeeze (hand french press while hot) I have been able to get only 60% of the oil. I kept all the remaining and I will try to get more out of it !

@Roger D Do you reuse the already soaked ABV again?

Like you stated, it is saturated with oil already so it should absorb less the next run, but does it have that many activities to even mess with.

Wow that infrared light gets really warm. Did you already consume some of it? How is it compared to other batches? I wonder if there is much difference in effect if you turn up the heat. I'm still looking for the perfect heating temperature in order for full CBD/CBN extraction.

Of course I already did that. What I want to try this time is to save a bunch of it and try to get the fat out if it instead of re using.

I consumed it all through one day @Blueberryyumyum I used 50g of coco fat, 6.66g of AVB, got 33g of fat out that I mixed with dark chocolate, sugar, milk and peanut butter in a smooth and delicious paste I put on some crispy fresh bread. With a glass of milk, it's the best. That was a strong trip I could feel the whole day ! I used a quarter or a third of what I usually vape this day.

I like to try things so my batches are getting smaller and smaller.

BTW you can rub more than your feet with the soaked herbs, full body rub in the shower before bed = full body buzz and the best night ever.

Nice, i was planning to use 70g of really fine grinded AVB with 100 or 200g of coco fat. I hope it's not too much AVB. Ofcourse i'm going to add it when i make a huge brownie. I hope it's not too strong :D.

How is your AVB btw i vape mine up to 210° C and store it in a jar.

You're gonna need way more than 200g to cover 70g up ! Not 200ml ! Note the difference cause they are sold by the ml. You can make more than one brownie with it ;)

I vape my bud at high temperature but not till it taste bad. Ground finely once, but not between hits, so there is still goods in my AVB. I all goes in glass jars fast, I'm more and more cautious about the overall hygiene knowing I'm going to cook with it.

Yeah i meant one huge brownie for +/- 10 - 12 people

So i purchased 1000ml of extra virgin coconutoil how much gram would that be?
