A valid method to lower tolerance?

Green goes to brown, n that's what I stand for.
@The Stranger

I understand how difficult it is man. A few weeks back I posted that I was going to try this method after that weekend and never did. Instead, my usage went from like 1.5 grams a week to almost an 8th a week. I need to stop because money is oh so fucking tight as it is, and I dont live in a state where I can grow legally (defintiely not worth trying in NJ since I dont even know what im doing growing-wise).

To make matters a bit more complicated my gf doesnt mind me getting high but when she sees me doing it every two hours is infuriates her. I understand where she's coming from too because I always talk about all these things I wanna do and weed usually ends up getting in the way.

This morning I took a couple hits out of my chillum (smoking, bad i know but I didnt wanna wait for my E-nano to heat up) and decided to start my 48-72 hour break starting at noon today.

My birthday is coming up this week and I really would love to feel like im on a more fruitful path by that time. Although I work and go to the gym, for over a year now ive been prioritizing weed paired with video games, and compulsive internet usage over everything else in my life.

Yeah man, it was actually only tough the first two days but by the third, I wasn't really fiending like I was.

That's cool to hear you're from NJ though, that's where I grew up for my first 21 years.

About the break, I honestly didn't feel like I got THAT much higher from it. I think it definitely helped with getting a nice buzz from a lot less weed though. And overall, I think it is just a good thing to do every now and then if even for your own mind and well being.

I will be traveling in mid-July for 10 days and have decided that it is a good time to leave my gear at home and take a T-Break. I know 10 days is significantly longer than the method suggested in the vid, but I think that can only help. Anyways, once I get back, my plan is to follow the method as described. I will be sure to report back the results.

Also, is the video now marked "private" and unwatchable for anyone else?? Is there another place to watch the video again?

Oh yeah, it took me quite a lot of googling to find it because I was getting the same "private" message.

But here ya go!

@The Stranger- Oh man, thank you so much for posting that vid. I was figuring I would have to go google-crazy in order to find it; looks like you took care of that for me. If I could like your post more than once or give +rep, I certainly would.

Thanks again!

Hahaha hey thanks but I'm happy to do it! I seriously learn so much from researching things I find on this site.

It's funny though, most of the time I just get brought back to threads on this site from people asking almost the same question I had. And it always makes me happy for some reason.

I know exactly what you mean. There is a sub-forum here on FC that I post in, and I often see the questions that I used to ask there. Its always fun to impart my knowledge and help some one out. Makes me happy as well...

Traveling is a great way to do a tolerance break. I find when I'm distracted and on the road I can completely forget about weed. But when I'm at home in my familiar vaping situations, and I know theres weed&vapes in the house, its 100x harder and takes a lot of self control. Another friend of mine does his tolerance breaks by purchasing only 1 ounce at a time, finishing it in 2 weeks and then having 2 weeks off. He says that the only way he can resist is by not having any weed in the house. He kind of amplifies the 'inconvenience' of having to call the dealer as a way to hold off, which works for him.

I recently did a 5 day tolerance break after getting home from a 1 month epic in Amsterdam. I missed the weed mostly at night, it's harder to relax and fall asleep. I found that vaping chamomile or other relaxing herbs helped a bit. Who knows whether it was a placebo or not, maybe its just the action of using my vaporizer and exhaling some kind of vapor that helps. Like how people quitting cigarettes feel the instinct to hold some kind of "stick" to their lips.

Yeah traveling is probably the best way to do it. When I'm kept busy it's really easy not to use :ko:. But when I'm just sitting at home and no one is around to hang out, ooooooooo that's my downfall!

I have to agree wit @RUDE BOY

As a licensed medical user, if i was to stop for 2 days it would also mean nausea, throwing up, not eating and my AS would flare up and i would be hobbling around like a goblin!

Hey lazylathe, AS?! As in Ankylosing Spondylitis?

If so, crazy...... I have a hard time finding other AS patients to relate to.

Because I can relate to this entire post, it's as if we live the same damn life.

I also realize when my consumption has shot way up, like now for example...
Not sure why it happens, actually i do but cannot place this on anyone else except me!

Sunday night i looked at my pile of ABV and it was pretty impressive!!
I briefly thought "Not bad for a weekend" but then remembered i had already cleaned my ABV tray that morning... Not a good sign.

All i do is force myself to only have two or three small bowls in Herbie, one of those bowls is in bed with the Solo, for a few weeks to a month.
Within a day or so my tolerance is way down and my medication is super potent again!!

I would have to say that finding a clear line between recreation and medication is extremely hard, especially since i abused it a lot in my youth and it is easy to fall into old bad habits again.
If i am alone i will always just do what i need to and not over do it.
If i have a friend over then it turns into recreational usage...LOL!

And i am rambling again...
Tolerance break achieved with ZERO break!!!

I deal with tolerance the same exact way brother...

Small, "maintenance" pulls at low temperatures during the day...

And right before bed (30-45 minutes prior to hitting the pillow) I load about 0.1 of herb and top with FullMelt Bubble Hash.

The session goes on and on, until I realize I am pretty much already asleep with the whip still in my hand.

Damn, I'm so grateful for this community, if not for members like you, I would not have known the power held within the Vapor!

My heart goes out to you my friend....

I have dealt with the symptoms of AS for over 2 decades (my entire adult life) and no damn doctor cared enough to find out what was wrong with me.

I was finally diagnosed about 4 years ago, and underwent a double hip replacement last year.

I wish you the best,
Hashtag

So, as I had previously mentioned, I was traveling for 10 days and abstained during this time.

The first two days back, I only medicated twice a day, about 6-7 hours apart, and only took 2 medium-sized puffs each time achieving only the slightest effects as suggested by the method/protocol. Truth be told, it was a very unsatisfying two days, but I was able to hang tough and therefor keep myself from blowing the whole thing and wasting the previous 10 days efforts.

Today I decided to medicate for effect. I took 4 good sized draws (not huge) on my Solo. The effects were much more pronounced and longer lasting than before I started the whole process 13 days ago. It was very enjoyable and satisfying.

I don't know how long this new tolerance will keep, but I imagine if I don't over-medicate and keep my consumption to the quantities mentioned above, I think it work for a good while. I can say at this point, I would call this method a success for me and I can see doing this again in the future, likely every three months or so. I believe it will be interesting to track the consistency of the method on an ongoing basis so I will be sure to report back each time for those interested as well.

I also wanted to point out something that has helped with my tolerance levels through Combustion,Dabbing (no longer dab), and Oral Consumption...

It's rather simplistic....

I forced myself to stop indulging all day, everyday, from the moment I woke up till the moment I went back to sleep...

When I was combusting, I'd smoke Bong "Snappers " all day long, and when it was time to actually "Medicate" (Insomnia related to chronic pain)... I'd literally have to smoke at least a full gram, if not more to reach maximum altitude.

Then, during my hay-days of Concrete Solvent Extractios (Shatter , Made from uncured fresh material)
In this state the Delta 9THC-A (Non Active)was still locked into its acidic Carboxyl Group, and is converted into Delta 9 THC(Active) upon hitting the hot nail, releasing the Active cannabinoids.

I realized I could simply orally ingest the shatter, and recieve my CBD,THC-A , *Without actually getting *High*

Then all it took was a single dab to get me to sleep.

This proved ineffective after a while , the oil would wear off at about 3am, and my pain would wake me , forcing me to drag my ass out of bed, tears rolling down my face in severe pain, take another dab or three to get back to sleep.

Then came my blessing... FullMelt Bubble.

I would take small hits from my glass chillum with herb only during the day, limiting my indulgence as much as possible...

Then for bedtime, I broke out my Hash Jar... And used my Ceramic heating element from my Soldering Iron to hover over my bowl, then finish it off via combustion....It was seemingly perfect, I slept like a rock, 6-7 hours.

Then the Messiah, my DBV,My Miracle Machine....
DBV +Full Melt = What I've needed my whole life ...such a prolific terpene profile, un an-Matched high.

So versatile, so enjoyable, I now have completely controlled my tolerance .

The point of this High as hell rambling post...

Moderation is key in controlling one's tolerance, without having to endure a "T-Break "

Instead of completely abstaining from my cannabis for 2-14 days, which would cause all kinds of problems, from being Nauseated 24/7, using a damn walker all hunched over and hobbling around, anxiety, depression and insomnia..

Abstain for the entire day... Wait till bedtime, or your preferred time to indulge once a day...
The wait is hard at first, but after about 2 weeks... It becomes very clear that I am receiving the most out of my herb, by waiting until it is truly needed.

I hope this makes sense, as I'm puffin on my Buddha as I type.

All the best FC!

Have I mentioned how much I love this community?

This is a very interesting thread. I have a couple issues. One is that I like to medicate using edibles as well as Vape.
Edibles give me longer term medical relief. I also vaporize (used to use a pax now I use a crafty) for short term breakthrough relief.
When eating edibles it is easy to build tolerance. So every couple weeks I ease off and SWITCH edibles from a BLACK BAR (1000mg "20 dose" KOROVA bar) to something else... ANYTHING but black bar for a week.

When vapeing I find that IF I find a delicious great strain I buy multiple grams. In my EVERY DAY CARRY (EDC) box of tricks I keep at least three different strains to choose from (mostly the same effects but differing flavors).
I rotate strains!!!.

quick story regarding cbd. A friend who combusts a hell of a lot invited me over while we were on a location scout. arrived at his house and did a bunch of BONG HITS (ok I know but this was in the past) towards the end I was fucked up and was worried about How I would be able to maintain.... So he brought out this strain he called the "antidote". This was VERY HIGH CBD strain. we each had a couple BH's of the Antidote.
Five minutes later I was right as rain. all set. SO there is no doubt that some CBD's CAN ACT AS AN AGONIST. This in time with research wIll be something we hear and learn more about.

IMHO it is very important with rec or medical use to ONLY USE the minimum necessary for desired effect.

I am a terrible vaporizer. I am super fussy. The weed has to be top top drawer.
When I vape I only vape at lowish temps 370-390. I always start at 370 sometimes I leave it there. Sometimes I up the temp a little.
I NEVER SAVE ABV. I toss it. I know its inefficient but I really am about flavor and then effect. I don't need to vape popcorn tasting ABV when I have bud to VAPE.
I am fortunate to be in CA where there are several high quality dispensaries with very high quality meds within a mile of my home. So its easy to be super spoiled like I am.

Anyway remember that if you consume edibles it will change how your tolerance develops and how you can reduce it. If YOU CANT stop then your best bet will be to only use the minimum necessary for the desired effect.

Away for work for 9 days, took a 1/4 with me and when I run out I run out... Easiest way to start a lon awaited tolerance break I beleive.

Just so Dab HAppy!
I really didn't think this through...I'm on day 3 of a T-break and it is Friday. I tend to allow myself more use during the weekends...just thought I would mention this for those who might wanna try taking a T-break and would overlook this just like I did. I plan on keeping to the T-break guidelines until Sunday night at least and then I will celebrate with a victory session to get that therapeutic effect Dr. Dustin talks about. :science:

Increasing intake of CBD in humans will reduce THC levels in humans. Here is a simple self test if you have access to strains of both high THC/lowCBD and strains of high CBD/lowTHC. Here is the test to see if CBD does indeed lower our tolerance to THC, and you will be the judge. The first part of the test will require one to totally stop intake of cannabis in any forms for one week. First part: no intake of cannabis for one week. After one week of refrain, vape a normal amount (for you) High THC. Take serious note of your effects. Continue high THC usage for one week. After one week, begin usage of high CBD for an additional week while refraining from THC. After CBD use for one week, stop and begin high THC. Carefully note the effects and compare. Conclusion: If THC effects are more notable after use with CBD than total cessation, it is safe to conclude CBD lowers THC levels. This conclusion can be safely drawn without use of scientific blood levels.

For the record: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2219532/

Increasing intake of CBD in humans will reduce the EFFECTS of THC in humans. The level of intake will remain the same. Whether CBD is acting on CB1 and CB2 receptors as an antagonist or THC is acting on CB1 and CB2 receptors as an agonist, the levels of THC in the blood will be the same and receptors will still build a tolerance. They might not be sensitive enough to elicit a response but it doesn't mean they aren't still processing the THC or CBD.

CBD is a moderator of the effects of THC, not a moderator of THC dosage - massive difference.

In my opinion, there's no way to not have a tolerance if you're constantly vaping/smoking - frequency builds tolerance. You can lessen tolerance by choosing strains with lower ratios of certain cannabinoids, but again, you're still building tolerance to that dosage of cannabinoids.

Interesting stuff, how expansive the physiological effects of cannabis are. :D

This feels totally unfair...one hit from the daisy this morning and I can't take anymore because I definetely feel more than the slightest effect....at least my tolerance already seems much lower. I feel like this day#4 is going to suck, except for three randomly chosen hours, one being right now:D
I have some additional tips for the T-break: use a lower strain thc than you normally would on day 3 or maybe even days 4 and 5 too.

If you have anxeity or insomnia, give your self more time to sleep, you will likely need it. I didnt neccessarily sleep longer, infact night one was horrible enough I had to pull over two or three times while driving to work to make sure I didn't go narco at the wheel(pulling over before narco episodes could be tip #3).
If you have chronic pain, do not lift anything during this period. I helped unload a truck and my left shoulder and neck felt like it was swollen for about two days tho it wasnt.

It wasnt until day 3 during my first resensitation session that i got any relief from my pain, anxeity/insomnia or even narcolepsy but I feel like this was still needed and very helpful already

Plan failed:( although with working night and sleeping during the day has 24 hour tolerance break and even noticed slight difference with that. Picked up a QP for a price I couldn't turn down and tomorrow I have off... So better luck next month I think! Definitely has merit! It's nice to know that more can be had for less if life or the wallet tries a curve ball!

It's too hard to know your THC levels from what they tell you at the local dispensary. You may know just from experience whether it feels low or high far as THC is concerned. I don't believe some of the levels that they advertise.

I slack off on how much I use, then do a 72 hour T break every so often. I don't always use the same amount in a day anyway. I also use several different strains, that helps tremendously.

Switching off using a different vaporizer helps too with tolerance. Sometimes you get used to a hard hitting vaporizer, that can raise your tolerance same with using concentrates. I don't use concentrates all the time and when I do it's just before bed.

You know your own body and what works best. Sometimes it's trial and error, if you use medicinally it can be tricky.

I totally agree. I wouldn't consider cbd the Houdini of thc. It doesn't make thc disappear in thin air. However, drastically decreasing half life is, in itself, a reduction.

Interesting subject matter and corresponding responses...but I believe that the idea of 'mind over matter' is really what's in play. I know many believe that the "Herb" today is a lot stronger than it was back in the 60's and seeing that I lived through the 60's and 70's I will have to respectively disagree. Can people build up a tolerance? Yes!!! Will they slowly start using more and more to chase the same results? Yes!!! Each and everyone of us need to look inside ourselves to get the answers we need. To continue each new day and make decisions toward reaching our personal goals......

I deal with severe chronic pain from Rheumatoid Arthritis every hour of everyday and of course I know many others have their own illnesses and battles that they deal with every hour of each day. I currently wear 72 hour Pain Transdermal Patches which of course only work toward a portion of the discomfort but have chosen to only smoke or vape at night before bedtime. Again this is my choice and would not judge others for the way they deal with pain or stress. There is no one answer which will work for everyone.....it's up to each of us to find our own solutions.....

Our bodies and minds are amazing systems which work together to keep us alive and on our journeys.....spend more time with yourself to set goals and priorities. Have the self-control and patience to look inward and you will find your answers and peace and serenity will follow you as well.....

So you just "suck up the pain" since the patches only work for a portion of the discomfort in order to keep your tolerance down by vaping before sleep? If your "mind over matter" is that powerful, than damn I need some of that!

I have yet to try Dr. Sulak's method to lower tolerance, but will be trying it shortly.

I can honestly say I didn't enjoy Dr. Sulak's method, however I can say I thoroughly enjoy the results. I stuck to it pretty well and I must say my tolerance did feel like it had dropped greatly. I am using about 50% less per session and I still get the effect I want.

Anyone with chronic pain will tell you…nothing will permanently take care of or remove the pain completely. Since you do build up a tolerance toward any chemical you will always need more. I have just chosen to smoke or vape at nite before bedtime as "Herb" does relax me and assist with making the pain more tolerable so I can sleep!!!

Be glad you are not in the position of suffering from chronic pain…..as most people can/could not deal with it. I do not wish my "condition of RA" on anyone and empathize with those who do suffer and deal with debilitating pain everyday. Only you can find what works for you so experiment and see what you are capable of accomplishing!!!
