A valid method to lower tolerance?

Hello serial vapists! I found a video on Reddit which I would like to hear your opinions on. I have a very low tolerance myself (mostly to save money) but I can see this method being used for those who have much higher tolerances, such as medical users who really need their medication to be potent.

I'm sorry if I sound ignorant to having a high tolerance. I really have no experience with medical marijuana dosage or even having that bad of a tolerance issue. If this video helps, I'm happy I could help some people. If it doesn't, please give your view on the topic and any tips you have to lowering tolerance, for example having an extended tolerance break (which I realize isn't as effective for some). Thanks for reading and responding. This is a beautiful community!

P.S.: The method is described around the 4:10 mark. Before that, he just explains what tolerance is.

Sounds like he's talking to recreational users to me.
It could work for some people but for me as a True medical user the break for 2 days would mean two days of pain, nausea, and no eating along with throwing up. not a good thing, so that's out of the question.

I do have to do the just plain cutting down my consumption for a couple days every few months to get my tolerance to a more affordable level. I've always felt The take a hit and wait idea has always really been for those who are vaping more for the head high only (not sayin' that can't be medical too) and not the deep body effects I'm looking for.

I have actually cut down from Vaping up 1-2 ozs a month to closer to a 1/2 -3/4oz in the last few months, all i did was switch to the vapman as my daily medical device and my Underdog at night not because I was looking to cut back either, Just that I had just gotten the vapman and my underdogs just been in use most every night since i've owned it. Somehow right now with these two vapes I actually seem to feel higher along with great medical relief on much less bud.

Finding the right vaporizer for my needs and knowing the difference when my medical use crosses way over the line into recreation has taken time. I'm still learning and looking for the balance between the two. I'm still amazed that some days I'm doing really well physically with only .30 when just a few years ago i was smoking and vaping around an 1/8th oz a day for relief.

Like it says in my sig, Right now Life is Good and living is good, really good thanx to Gods Good Herb.

Well that makes sense... I suppose you would actually need to take your medication for it to be effective.

Congratulations on cutting down! It must feel good saving it!

I think the one hit thing that he mentions in the video isn't for a high but rather for your body getting used to a smaller amount in order to lower your tolerance in that way. But like you said, you need a certain dosage to feel the effects you require.

Thanks for your input. I'll never fully understand what it's like to be in your shoes, but I'm happy to know we can both enjoy the good herb! :D

Almost there...
I have to agree wit @RUDE BOY

As a licensed medical user, if i was to stop for 2 days it would also mean nausea, throwing up, not eating and my AS would flare up and i would be hobbling around like a goblin!

I also realize when my consumption has shot way up, like now for example...
Not sure why it happens, actually i do but cannot place this on anyone else except me!

Sunday night i looked at my pile of ABV and it was pretty impressive!!
I briefly thought "Not bad for a weekend" but then remembered i had already cleaned my ABV tray that morning... Not a good sign.

All i do is force myself to only have two or three small bowls in Herbie, one of those bowls is in bed with the Solo, for a few weeks to a month.
Within a day or so my tolerance is way down and my medication is super potent again!!

I would have to say that finding a clear line between recreation and medication is extremely hard, especially since i abused it a lot in my youth and it is easy to fall into old bad habits again.
If i am alone i will always just do what i need to and not over do it.
If i have a friend over then it turns into recreational usage...LOL!

And i am rambling again...
Tolerance break achieved with ZERO break!!!

Oh man I know too well what you mean. It's easy to overdo it when I'm at a friend's house. We've ended up on an unintentional tolerance break afterwards due to becoming dankrupt...

I'm happy to know you've found a way to kick up your potency! For me, I wouldn't be able to cut back unless I've had a short break first.

I cut down my tolerance by consuming less over a few days. Then it becomes an habit :). It takes a lot of dicipline at first, but perseverance pays. I wait closer to 3 hours(or more) between bowls, smaller bowls. I think doing cardio sessions accelerate the process too. In the process of finding will to cut my tolerance atm :borg:

Small bowl vapes aid lowering your tolerance.. :) I've read few theories that when you take daily same ammounts ,body accustoms to the program and is managing to process it. It is pretty hard to build tolerance on 0.5 g daily ... Fuck up tolerance comes from overabusing herb and concentrates in grams cause you do ammounts that would keep a normal guy high for a week... :D So like gonzo said Log vape or other small bowl vape, vaponic is my new fav ! :)I like narrow bowls, they give me more cloudage :D,i almost regret having MW,DBV in my fave history.. some blasting times for sure.. but i wasn't t as high all the times like now and some working functions were gettin maimed :D :D

Thanks @Beluga for that video! My tolerance was insane, and I was chronically vaping just to avoid the withdrawals and feeling like shit. Now that i've been clear of vaping for over a month, and test negative for THC on a piss test, when I start up vaping again, this will be a great way for me to ease into it and keep my tolerance super low. I'm going to do it exactly like he says! I've never thought about the science of it like that before so i'm pretty excited about it. This with both save me money and my lungs, and still able to enjoy sobriety (which I greatly enjoy even more than vaping).

If you enjoy sobriety better than vaping, why would you go back to vaping then? It sounds like vaping may not be for you anymore. It's OK to move on.

Did you need to pass a test for employment or was this a personal achievement that you wanted to have control over?

I thought this was a good video. A great way to go about lowering ones tolerance. It creeps up without realizing it, especially if you use for medical.

what he describes in the video ive done and it did work to realign my tolerance. ive also achieved similar results by (instead of taking 2 days off) vaping about, oh i dont know, 10+ times my normal daily amount in one session, provides a reset for me and the next few days i ritualistically keep my sessions very short and tiny amounts, ride that wave and enjoy all that it is...increasing slowly until i reach that sweet spot. and dont forget, set and setting. if you keep putting yourself in similar situations you just might end up in similar...situations. :ninja:

Can you elaborate? I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

i was relating to set and setting, although amounts and delivery methods could be applied. basically, once you've returned to your sweet spot perhaps aim to not cycle yourself into the same routine that got you out of it in the first place...choose a routine that encourages balance. :peace:

I am fortunate enough to live in a state that qualifies pain for medical mj. I can go into a dispensary and I can pick out several different strains to use. Using several different strains in moderation I find works best for me.

Also slowly cutting back over several days and then having a 72 hour T break seems to lower my tolerance considerably. I am unable to take most medications for arthritis due to they lower my kidney function. I am thankful that there is an alternative to use.

I like the video. Its very useful for folks that use cannabis for an alternatives to pharmaceuticals. Also rec users that want to get that tolerance down. Sometimes there is no right or wrong. Its great that we can come together and share useful information that you can't find anywhere else.

That guy wrote a good piece on the endocannabinoid system.

Cannabis, The Endocannabinoid System, And Good Health

As we continue to sort through the emerging science of cannabis and cannabinoids, one thing remains clear: a functional cannabinoid system is essential for health. From embryonic implantation on the wall of our mother's uterus, to nursing and growth, to responding to injuries, endocannabinoids help us survive in a quickly changing and increasingly hostile environment. As I realized this, I began to wonder: can an individual enhance his/her cannabinoid system by taking supplemental cannabis? Beyond treating symptoms, beyond even curing disease, can cannabis help us prevent disease and promote health by stimulating an ancient system that is hard-wired into all of us?

I now believe the answer is yes. Research has shown that small doses of cannabinoids from marijuana can signal the body to make more endocannabinoids and build more cannabinoid receptors. This is why many first-time marijuana users don't feel an effect, but by their second or third time using the herb they have built more cannabinoid receptors and are ready to respond. More receptors increase a person's sensitivity to cannabinoids; smaller doses have larger effects, and the individual has an enhanced baseline of endocannabinoid activity. I believe that small, regular doses of marijuana might act as a tonic to our most central physiologic healing system.

That is something I've been wondering about lately. Emphasis, for me, on "small".

I completed the Dr's Resensitization method yesterday and am enjoying it. Soooo could handle getting rid of all my vape gear in exchange for small capacity, efficient vape suitable for a new (?) mindset - HI :luv::cry: Perhaps a VM.

Cbd will reset your tolerance to thc as it lowers thc levels.
Jeppy do you mean that the lowered tolerance is due to switching to weaker (in terms of THC) product? Yes, I know that as the CBD increases in the plant, so does the THC decrease. This is what you are referring to, yeah? Similar in a way really to switching to mids from top-shelf.

You're not implying that CBD has some specific, known effect on THC tolerance?

EDIT. At the 6:00 mark does he state 15? "it'll be at least 15 % less cannabis than it used to be ..."

It is possible to 'withdrawal' from thc by consuming predominately cbd. That concurs with the fact that we know cbd reduces thc levels. I think it's safe to conclude the intake of cbd will reduce thc tolerance.

Thanks Jeppy. That's what I thought you meant - lower THC% strains essentially.
