$90 for a used FireFly v1...worth?

Hey guys,

An acquaintance of mine is interested in selling me his FireFly V1 for $90 since he wants to get a DynaVap (which honestly I want too but not yet). I recently gave my Boundless CFX to my best buddy as an early b-day present since honestly he loved it a lot more than I did. Although, I really appreciated it over my Air (to suit my portal needs). The Air was my first portable, and CFX the second. I'm looking for a portable thats great for portability and a quick toke for walks, hikes, movies etc. It will be solo-use so learning curves isnt a problem for me.

I was looking into the Flowermate Nano and the Fury, and really interested in Fury's Fierce, although I like to wait a minimum of 3 months before buying a fresh vape from the market. My budget range is $250. I've heard FireFly (v1) had a lot of issues for some people, and while the battery life doesn't bother me at all considering a small sesh throughout the day rather than one big sesh, I'd like to know people's opinions on it here before jumping the gun. I definitely have a knack of impulse buying, especially since I just bought a classic Volcano for $200 w/ Ez valve on craigslist. Was gonna get a silver surfer to replace my DBV but just couldn't justify it.

TL;DR: Anyways I've been rambling, as I'm medicated pretty well after a very stressful day at work. Long story short, is $90 a good price for a used FireFly? What do you like about it and hate about it? Should I just save up for the Fury/wait for the Fierce?

IDK if that is a good price,but be careful because there are many fake firefly's (counterfeits) out there. Try to verify the origin of the vape before purchasing it, demand copy of the bill of purchase or smth like that.
Also used lightly is one thing while i wrecked the shit out of it is quite another. If you are buying online second hand you will never know what is the condition of the insides and functions until you get it .

No worries here, though. This is from a colleague and he has the original box with the $300 pricetag sticker on it, and all of the original parts + original manual (showed it to me afterwards). It has the soft case, extra screens etc too. I told him I'll make my answer when I see him again tomorrow. It was just slightly dirty by the faceplate but nothing a swab of ISO cant get off. He also warned me about the learning curve and all that too, as well as the batt life. He doesnt have replacements, but I know this is the real deal.

EDIT: I've seen him use it only a few times but I never had the chance to try it myself.

I personally don’t think the Ff1 is a good for hikes. It’s bulky/heavy and very finicky. I would have a hard time vaping while walking with it (but that may be my own coordination issue).
The Fury is great for solo use, small and lightweight. Also, super easy to walk and vape with it! The only downside is if you are going on an all-day hike and will be vaping a lot, the battery may run out. But a small battery charger would remedy it. And if you only vape a session every couple of hours, you won’t need a charger.
I don’t have the FM Nano, but have heard good things and enjoyed my FM Pro very much (don’t really use it these days, but that’s because I have newer toys to play with.) But it is also lightweight and easy to use.

I might be in the small majority here who absolutely love the FF1 to death. I own both the one and two and the two is technically better in every way shape and form performance wise, but man the FF1 just has a sort of unique beauty to it that I can't get over. It's kind of like driving a classic car out on the road. Sure the thing guzzles gas and will probably kill you on impact if you get in a crash, but there's a certain joy to driving it. I get the same kind of joy out of using my FF1, it's kind of weird but man I love that little thing.

If you're just looking for performance though yeah there are definitely better vapes you can get!

Same colleague is also getting rid of his Solo 2, and I'm much more interested in that. He's willing to part with it for 180. I see its 250 new, so it seems like a fair price. Great condition and comes with a protective case. He's tryna get a different vape so he just wants to part with it to get the Mighty. I know it's not gonna be like the more portable ArGo, but I'd like to know peoples opinion on the Solo 2. Air flow and taste are my biggest factors, and I've already heard about how impressive the battery life is.

Really appreciated all other comments! It's a neat device but for some amount more I could get the Solo 2.

@Zentori. You are making a wise choice in the Solo 2. I love mine. I bought it last summer. It’s a bit big but would work well on a hike. The glass stem won’t fall out like the Solo OG. The battery is a tank - brand new it will last for three hours. The battery will degrade a little bit. Mine still has about 2 hours of use per charge and it has had a lot of use.

$180 could be a little bit high because I bought mine brand new for $220, it was through Randy @PuffItUp and I recieved an FC discount. I see PIU doesn’t have any Solo 2s advertised. @PlanetVape was expensive at $289 and so is Arizer. @PlanetVape will give 10% off for FC members, they are a sponsor. I go through @PuffItUp if they have what I’m looking for. great CS and I live on the Westcoast, PIU is in California. If I lived on the Eastcoast I might go with Planetvape more often.

I followed the FireFly thread the first year or so then lost interest. Too many issues and I didn’t like the shape of the thing. @steama is right it looks like a surf board.

I think comparing the mentioned vapes a little apples and oranges. I have experience with some and Gary are very different.

Personally, I found the ff1 too finicky, but when you got everything right, it’s the best! I think the price isn’t far out of line, but...

Ask about the number, condition and age of the batteries. I’ll bet you need new ones and that adds to the total cost.
