Vapor Enthusiast
www.liftexpo.ca is where you can get more information and see what companies and organizations will be present. Oh, and a huge vape lounge for medicating which I believe is run by www.180smoke.ca. They are a decent shop with some really nice employees who are truly passionate about vaping. They are more focused on the ecig and ejuice side of vaping, but the box mods they sell cross over into the cannabis consumption realm with the universality of the shatter/wax type cartridges who connect to most of the mods they sell. They also sell cannabis specific flower and concentrate vaporizers.
The Lift Expo will be Running This Weekend, Friday May 26 - Sunday May 28
Tickets are still available for the weekend, but I'm pretty sure they are sold out for the industry event on Friday. I am going Friday to browse the vendors and such as it should be more quiet. Plus I am actually working the Expo for Lift on Saturday and Sunday and will be greeting VIPs and running the new Virtual Reality experience for anyone to try. So come and look for Mike or ask for me in that area and tell me who you are on FC and if we have ever interacted before I will know who you are by the username. Would be happy to meet some fellow patients and even recreational users as many of us patients were prior to the availability of medical marijuana.
Next year if I work the Expo again with Lift I am going to ask for possibly a few sets of tickets to run a contest on here. I have a good relationship with some of their most integral staff so I can usually get an ear with the power to change something to listen to my suggestions. I am an Ambassador on their website and just help with some general moderation of the community, particularly the advice section, monitor reviews for accuracy and attempts to cheat the points system. One benefit is we can get some Lift Expo tickets, which I believe would be a pair. I just got the idea this morning so it is probably too late. But, if anyone is desperate to attend and can't get the funds for a ticket, send me a PM. I can talk to the Lift team and maybe still secure the tickets I would have used if I didn't get the gig working at the expo. So I should theoretically have two unused tickets that could be donated. I could just bring them with me and when you show up I can give them to you if it happens to work out for someone in need and they can't acquire tickets any other way.
I'm definitely going with the intention of looking at all the LPs and hope there will be some nicely discounted items from other retail shops and manufacturers that have booths. Often at Expos you can get Expo pricing which is cheaper than most retail stores, but not always. I want to see if there are any companies there the supply or produce cultivation equipment as I am applying for the ACMPR personal production permit which which will allow 15 plants. So I need to look into some packages and varying lighting options like the newer wide spectrum LEDs vs HIDs. I need some expert guidance in this area. Plus I plan in just getting a good sized tent as I don't have a spare room to dedicate to it. I will have to share my bedroom with that wonderful lady Mary Jane. Doesn't sound too bad thinking about it. Anyway, so I was thinking like a dual compartment tent to have vegging side and a flower in side. If I find a fantastic phenotyoe that I want to keep producing I could keep a mother in the vegging side too so that seems enough for. So lighting, tent and now proper ventilation and some odour control, but this is the least of my worries because I will have the legal permit. I might start with just proper ventilation and add the odour control if it bothers me. Plus I don't want to kiss off my neighbors as I live in a good and safe building where residents would likely be quite alarmed of something illegal not knowing it is legal for medical patients who have filled out the application and for their approvals. Health Canada won't deny you unless for have a criminal record for drug trafficking within the past 10 years I think. Otherwise you just have to show you have an address, rented or owned it doesn't matter and so it isn't really an "application", it's more of a registration that takes 2-4 months to process.
So yeah, I want to connect hopefully with a few cultivation product companies as I will be needing a full nutrient line and either premixed soil or a list of what to get and mix together. I plan on doing soil as it is far more forgiving that hydroponics which is really finicky and just being slightly off on one nutrient can wreak much havoc in your crop. Through if you know what you are doing if closely monitored you can catch the problem at the very start and fix it and hydro also responds to those changes just as fast. So it goes bad fast but be altered just as fast for good or bad. Soil is so forgiving you can make mistakes and since the effect on the plant is much slower than hydro you usually catch it and fix it before it ever gets out of hand. Only downside if soils I guess are with minor adjustments taking quite some time to do anything and if a serious problem happens you might not be able to fix it fast enough. Also, they recommend soils for first time as well as many connoisseurs prefer soil grown and some more than others like those soil grown flowers sun kissed as well.
Also I am hoping to find some cooking with cannabis materials like books and recipes and especially some very good material with some studies or even just a more scientific approach for the proper decarboxylation to convert the maximum THC-A while preserving as many of the equally valuable other compounds like other cannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids. I feel like the skunkfarms team has done some, what appears to be, good work there with using already lab tested strains and different decarb temps and times and then testing the product after he decarb process to see how much THCA was convertertes. The testing is nice but until it is reproduced in other facilities by different researchers it's hard to tell how accurate and constantly reproducible their methods are. So yeah, I want a quality scientific cookbook for producing quality medibles.
And I want to check out some vapes and vape accessories of course and maybe pick up a few new toys.
I can't wait.
Maybe I'll see some of you there.
