20 year+ UK smoker looking for vape to replace joint habit

Hi all, this is my first post, thanks for a great forum!

I've been smoking weed since I was 14, daily since about 19 (34 now!) so its time to quit for health and also I'm getting pissed off with nicotine making me smoke compulsively. (I usually don't smoke cigs)

Because of being in the UK I mix tobacco with my weed and I LOVE joints with both in it. However I have been tobacco free for 10 days now!! (Using lobelia inflata to help with nicotine withdrawal, ask me if you want to know more, still difficult though, argh!)

Anyway I really love smoking slender ladylike joints (so its not just about weed but also the habit and pleasure of inhalation) and I know that vaping won't be the same but looking for the closest possible alternative.

My throat can get quite sore, so I would like a vape with nice cool smooth vapour if poss (I've tried some cheap ecigs and found that they can be quite harsh)

Really like the taste of weed so want something that will give me a good taste. I'm also interested in smoking things like chamomile since I heard that you can, so I'll need something with variable temperatures (also any tips on what else is nice to smoke? Jasmine flowers?)

I mainly smoke at home, usually would smoke approx 3 joints a day, (more if socialising) I like to have one by my side and take a few pulls, leave it, then re-light it and so on through the evening.

Price - I'm not rich but happy to spend whatever it takes to quit my joint habit

So after reading things on here I'm leaning towards the Mighty, and maybe also the Vapman for good luck(!) and festivals (and maybe a cheap pen type vape for the occasional gig or club night, cos being in the UK the Mighty wouldn't be sly enough for that)

Just looking for advice/reassurance/anything that will help me take the plunge and make the purchase.

TLDR:
  • Want a vape (or 3) to replace the feeling of smoking slim spliffs
  • Mainly smoking at home
  • Price not really an issue
  • Would like temp control so I can smoke things like chamomile
  • Cool, smooth vapour would be good to go easy on my throat
  • Good taste important
  • So far Mighty and Vapman are what's calling me

Thanks so much for any advice! <3

If your vaping at home id suggest an arizer extreme Q . And vape at a decent temp to start with to help with the spliff cravings. I know exactly where your coming from as I quit smoking 5 weeks ago and feel so much better for it. I'm using an ecig for the nicotine. Even though you don't smoke cigarettes your still gonna be withdrawing from the nic so good look with that but willpower is the key mate and you will enjoy a cleaner high and cleaner lungs also.

The Vapcap is about as close as you can get to the ritual of smoking joints. They are the size and shape of a cigarette. You light (heat) then toke. You can use any heat source; a bic, a jet lighter, stove element, campfire stick, a candle etc.

Mainly smoking at home

Here are a few Vapcaps hanging out at home.

Price not really an issue

Prices range from $35 for an all glass OG Vapcap to $80- $120 for a titanium tipped wood bodied Vapcap, to the indestructible all metal Omnivape for $160. A lot of people start with the inexpensive OG Vapcap and once they fall in love they come back for another.

The build is modular and the Titanium tipped models have completely interchangeable parts. It's LEGO for stoners... mix and match, find a Vapcap build all your own.

Would like temp control so I can smoke things like chamomile

Temperature is controlled by where you apply heat on the cap. Higher on the cap for cooler temps and lower for higher temps. The cap clicks when it comes toking temps so you never have to worry about combusting.

Cool, smooth vapour would be good to go easy on my throat

I have severe asthma. This is the coolest smoothest vaporizer that I have found. From there I took it over the top with this toking approach and technique. Highly recommended!

Good taste important

I find that the Vapcap delivers great taste. I get about three cycles per session and the first two cycles are always tasty.

  • So far Mighty and Vapman are what's calling me.
I don't have a Mighty, but I do have three Vapmans. They are wonderful vaporizers and they were my daily drivers until I discovered the Vapcap, then it was game over. The Vapcap is just a bit smoother than the Vapman; more convenient, more versatile, more joint like, more attractive.

Here is the Dynavap website. These guys have the best customer service bar none. Seriously. These are wonderful people to do business with.

Come read about the Vapcap here on FC. We are a bunch of really happy satisfied Vapcap owners. The stories of generosity and good will, will restore your faith in the human race if nothing else.

The Vapcap or vaponic will give you a similar ritual to smoking joints. I found effects of vaponic closer too, and it can more easily do lower temps as you can see any colour change in the material as you heat, plus being glass and ss screen is fully cleanable to remove any taste left from different herbs. Vaponic is probably the tastiest of my 8 or so vapes.

Vapcap is much simpler to use, and MAY not be as easy on lower temps, but still possible. Original is also mainly glass and fully cleanable.

Vapman is also awesome, but may not be as easy to clean other smells out of the wood (if that is a concern for you), but is tasty and using torch, low temps with less torch time Is no problem.

All of the above can be used to take a few puffs and put down for later. I am not sure if the mighty allows this as much, but has better temp control, although i don't know how low it starts, as i don't own one and never used one.

Thank you all so much for your replies, you've really made my christmas!!

@Striped121 well done on quitting the baccy! My boyf wants to get himself a volcano so will prob let him do that rather than get the airiser eq since I think they are similar

@Squiby @Vapenvy Wow I LOVE the look of the Vapcap, had no idea it existed before reading your posts. I've already ordered an OG since there was a shop in the UK that stocks it, and once I've tried it out will almost certainly get another one from Dynapvap. The woody ones are gorgeous.

@Squiby your vapcaps are so beautiful! are they custom made?

Im so happy that such a beautiful vaping tool exists, and people seem to love it so much, Im feeling really good about replacing combustion with vaping now!! So glad I decided to post cos otherwise i wouldn't have known!

Merry Xmas all <3<3<3

I think that a Mighty would serve you well. It's a great vape with amazing taste. If you keep it at a low enough temp you can make the flavour last for the whole bowl.

I don't have a volcano but I have an extreme q, if you think they're similar why not go with the q? It costs less and give you more options (bongs, whip draw or bags instead of just bags) and with the @DDave mod you can get comfortably medicated off amounts people brush off their lap if you were rolling a joint

Vapcaps have a really satisfying heating ritual and are very joint like, not to mention they look beautiful. It probably won't be long til you're adding more fancy models after you get your og

@Squiby your vapcaps are so beautiful! are they custom made?
Some are, some aren't. All are easily attainable.

The short bumpy metal body on the Vapcap near the top of the photo is a custom option available from Gearge at Dynavap. It is called a Copper Stoned Ti Vapcap S. It has a stainless steel body covered with globs of copper. It is my all time favorite Vapcap of all time!

The next two can be purchased from ©Phattpiggie in a variety of woods. All you will need to connect to his stems are the titanium tip and stainless steel cap.

Here is another @phattpiggie stem, the Telescoping Twist in Blackwood.

Here are some Dynavap Vapcap bodies and stems from the Dynavap website. These are not custom.

Vapcaps have a modular build so you can switch the parts and come up with your own custom look. They are all beautiful and incredibly efficient. Enjoy your OG Vapcap and join us on the thread.

I owned a extreme Q for a few years and now I have a Volcano. ...big difference! In vapor quality and you get more bags out of the Volcano which saves herb.

myfairlady I vote for the Mighty! Very hard to beat this portable vaporizer. Hits like a top level desktop, cool vapor, you can rip it or take small pulls, battery lasts 8 sessions, and it's very dependable

Thanks for all the advice! Really appreciated.

Yes I'll def be joining you on the vapcap thread, read a lot last night on there, but still many many many more pages to go, the love is strong I see, lol! Im sure i will be buying more of them in the future

As for all the mods and add ons, I really love the care and effort that people are putting into their vapes and making things for them and so on.

I've heard good things about the Volcano, as has the boyf, but the ddave mod for the arizer sounds interesting too! so many choices!! I've passed on your advice @jimfish4130 and @Mr.tuffyino-h-i-o, so I'll let him decide on that one! Cheers

More questions:

Do people think its worth having a Vapcap AND a Mighty? (Im guessing yes)

And if so, just to mix things up a little bit I'm gonna mention that mid next year me and the boyf plan to leave UK, sell everything and go backpacking for years maybe? I know it might seem a bit odd wanting to buy a volcano or airizer given that fact, but the boyf don't care and he will be carrying them!

But my question is, given that I do care about weight of what I buy, (as I'll be carrying it), do you think I'd be happy with a Crafty instead of a Mighty? I've read they are pretty much the same except for the battery life and size and app? And is it annoying having to use an app to control it?

Thanks!!

@Squiby and @jimfish4130 many, many thanks for the mention.

@myfairlady the one thing I missed most with all electronic vapes, the ritual, familiarity had all gone.
And to be fair the 'hit'.

The Vapcap brought it all back and more.

If you take a battery powered vape on your travels you will need multiple batteries and a charger. a power source full stop, Iso, Q tips etc. And then what if it goes 'tits up' on you, how do you figure a warranty return in to your travels.

Vapcap needs Iso and gas, a spare torch lighter as well, but at a push you can use any decent heat source to heat the VC.

If you want a no hassle, sit you down like a joint 'stone' (off 0.05g or less), a comforting familiarity in the ritual, with no worries on needing to send it back for repair or a refund, or try and source batteries then get an all Titanium Vapcap.

One of the easiest device to clean ever, especially if you intend on crossing borders.

Do people think its worth having a Vapcap AND a Mighty? (Im guessing yes)

Lots of people collect vapes. I would guess that the vast majority of vapers have at least two. They are all different. Everyone has different tastes and desires. Although I rarely use my Lotus or Vapman, I still love them and will not part with them. I can say that my VAS has been cured by the Vapcap.

I read other vaporizer threads but I have no compulsion or curiosity to try them out. That's just me. I know what features I like and what I don't. You will discover your preferences once you start vaping.

My suggestion would be; see how you like the Vapcap. It's a small investment. After you have used it awhile you will know if you want the Mighty as well. In the mean time read the threads on the vapes that interest you. Learn about them and ask questions. The answer to your question will reveal itself.

sell everything and go backpacking for years maybe?

If it were me, I would try to organize and simplify my daily living habits in such as way as to minimize bulk and complexity. If you are backpacking, do you (collectively) really want to be tethered to an electrical outlet or cart around something that's half the size of a breadbox?

I cannot honestly think of a situation where the Vapcap is more suited. The Omnivap, for example is the perfect model for backpacking. It has a near indestructible all metal construction. Tiny. Lightweight, maybe 12 grams or so. It operates off grid using a variety of options to heat it. No grinder needed. No batteries to rotate, charge, organize and store. No cords. No electronics to fail. No plastic too break. The Omnivap is a doomsday vape.

@phattpiggie your work is beautiful. I'm still browsing your thread but that harry potter type one and the breakfast at tiffanies one, wow! (I've always loved cigarette holders for the elegance, used to use a red and black one back in the day when I did smoke cigs). And you make really good points about rituals, cleaning for border crossings, and the longness of bringing batteries etc

@Squiby yeah you are so right we just realised how silly that whole idea of taking an outlet vape travelling is, he is now going to get the Mighty (still got 6 months of being in the uk after all! but I bet he'll be jealous of my Vapcap muahaha) and I'm going to save my money for Vapcaps and all the beautiful add ons and extras that I will probably end up buying.

You guys all ROCK, what fantastic advice! So grateful and happy right now and can't wait till my OG vapcap and dynastash arrives (but already drooling over the rough edged dynastash pic I saw somewhere in the Vapcap thread, and the woodys, and the omni, and the custom made stuff by phattpiggie.... lol

:love::leaf: Merry Xmas!!! :leaf::love:

I know this is a little off topic here but @Squiby everyone's talking about your beautiful vapcaps(as they should be) but all I want to know is where did you get that fantastic looking wooden case(The one in the first picture that's not a dynastash) for your vapcaps? It's gorgeous!

Here is my vapcap stash collection.
UHZzN6B.jpg

I have three Dynastashes, one Wenge DynastashER and two Dynastash; Paduak and that Raw Edge Burl.

The Burl is very appealing. It is interesting and unusual. There are a few of them here on the thread floating around. Mine stays put. I don't take it out with me. George @VapCap will likely offer more of them or certainly some other creative and beautiful stashes. You can always contact him through the website contact page for custom requests. Or you can wait and see what he comes up with next.

I just received the Paduak from the Black Friday sale a few weeks ago. It is surprisingly beautiful! The rich red colour is outstanding. The pictures that I have seen of this wood have not done it justice.

The surprise for me has been my growing appreciation for Wenge wood. The subtle black and chocolate grain really grows on you. The Wenge DynastashER is my favorite.

There have been some stunning Black and White Ebony Dynastashes too. You'll see them posted somewhere on the thread. Then there's the Leopardwood......Hahaha!

What could be better than enjoying a leisurely toke, using a beautiful efficient device while admiring a beautiful wood stash?

How do you like that Leather Vapcap case from @Ratchett ? I was thinking of getting one for myself. I know the one he made for the GH was of fantastic quality but I also know that I don't need one but on the other hand I also know I'm probably going to cave and get it anyway.

Also to @myfairlady if you think you're obsessed now wait until you actually get one! You won't find a better vape in the bang to buck ratio department out there! I think that you will be very very happy.

You have a beautiful collection of stashes!

I am really enjoying the @Ratchett Vapcap Pouch! The leather is a good weight but is soft and supple. It holds the three essentials; Vapcap, herb and a small cylindrical lighter. It is long enough to accommodate an XLS Vapcap.

Plus it's Purdy.....:luv::love::luv:

Just thought I'd do a quick update, particularly for those that find this thread because they also want to quit joints with tobacco!

So I got my OG vapcap and I LOVE it! So happy, I had high expectations but it has met and even exceeded them, especially as I find new things to appreciate such as the yummy popcorn taste as the herb gets toasty!

Finding out about (and then receiving!) my VC has turned quitting tobacco (and therefore joints as I know them) into something that was really depressing me, into something that is a pure joy. (and I feel healthier already).

The high is definitely a bit different to spliffs, very nice indeed, like a warm happy blanket (yes I am medicated right now hence the rambling:-) and it really does satisfy my need for ritual and so on. So I say to others in this position, try it!!

I'm a bit busy right now as getting ready for a trip abroad, but when I have time I will post a thread in the success stories section, offering advice and encouragement for people quitting baccy/spliffs.

Thanks again to everyone is this thread (and @VapCap !) for bringing this goodness into my life :-)

<3<3<3 :peace::tup::leaf::love::clap::clap::clap::love::leaf::D:ko:<3<3<3

ps. As I predicted, the boyf is totally jealous of my vapcap, he is loving it too, and has decided to forget about the mighty and buy his own VC!

This is great, I want to quit spliff and just use my mighty as it tastes amazing and no phlegm or guilt about smoking harm,I'm finding it hard as it's a habit I have with my partner every night roll a few and chill and no matter how much I try to make it just Vape he reaches for bakky and makes spliff and then I end up doing it too,but for me it's more of a closeness do it together things with spliff and I really want to just Vape.
