Looks like a job for!
So in an effort to make nice strong edibles with reclaim I've stumbled into the rabbit hole of using terpenes to enhance the potency of existing material. Put shortly and simply certain terpenes can allow our bodies to interact with the THC and the reception sites for them within the body to increase the strength of an edible without adding to the amount of THC in there, they each work in different ways.
So since the THC content in my reclaim is obviously not super high and it's a free byproduct it kinda makes sense to me to put a bit into making it as effective as possible. So in my research the 2 main terpenes that seem to be a good fit to this purpose (and I've seen listed in ingredients of products) would be d-limonene and β-Myrcene. Now limonene is super cheap and easy to find in liquid food grade form, at a quite cheap price.
However sourcing some β-Myrcene has proven to be near impossible so far, perhaps someone out here can help me out? I am under the impression / understanding that yang-lang and lemnongrass essential oils are a high % of β-Myrcene, but essential oils can often be watered down or cut with things to make it last longer in aroma therapy, and even theraputic food grade lemongrass oil I can find is not recommended for consumption as it will induce nausea so that's not ideal. I did find one chem supply shop online that will sell 90%>purity β-Myrcene, but it's $250 for .25Grams and requires constant -20c temperature storage (so shipping is gonna be through the roof on that.)
So the question becomes, does anyone know a source for this that is relatively pure, reasonably priced and suitable for consumption? Is this simply a pipe dream I'm unrealistically chasing, due to cost and application feasibility? I also have a steam juicer so I could potentially obtain a plant that's high content of it and then steam juice and dehydrate to refine / concentrate it.
Thoughts?
