Pétrolette doesn't want to know you ;)

Good morning everyone! ☕ 📰 In between puffs of my trusty Dynavap, with Troy & Jerry pretty much always in the speakers, I just released Pétrolette 1.3, "The news page that knows nothing about you" 😎 Pétrolette is a news reading home page, Free, Libre, and Open-Source Software. It is immediately...

Vapcap (Ti tip & MP, long body, short condenser) and Sage. Yes, sage, Salvia Officinalis, the normal, easy-to-find (grow it!) bud sister, the Roman Empire panacea. Take a big bouquet of it, and let it dry in a shady & cool place ; now cut the stems out, and grind / crush some leaves in your...

DIY Induction Heater Builds and References

Thank you very much for your patience, I understand now. Ah, but I'd - seriously - love to build a battery-powered device, but I never found a guide that I could follow, with a parts list, a wiring diagram, possible charger models... That would really be tops, do you know of any? EDIT - I just...

DIY Induction Heater Builds and References

Aahhh... And so what could have happened with my 5A and 6A bricks, is that they somehow under-powered the device, giving it 12V allright, but less current than this voltage implied... Right? Ok, so just to be sure (sorry if I sound redundant, I really want to be sure not to fry more modules) Is...

DIY Induction Heater Builds and References

But... I'm confused, I though 60W wasn't enough, isn't it what you said earlier about my two 5A & 6A bricks?

Ooh... can I use this with one of my 5A bricks, and boost it to the required current?

Apparently there are two models : the MINI 028, and the MINI 1.1RE. Which one is better / most reliable?

DIY Induction Heater Builds and References

Just to be sure, it's not the 6A supply that I have to lay to rest under a folded flag, but the (2) modules I killed with it, right? Wow, so even 8A should be just "sufficient"? :\ Can you please post a link to this "nice 200W DC-DC converter" ? Also, would one of these work safely? Yikes...

DIY Induction Heater Builds and References

Thank you very very much for trying to help ; I'd really love to know too, seriously. Here is my design, it's simple : Special OT note : It sports a tuning system to set the height of the heated element, and lock it in this position, like you mentioned in this post :) If I could source...

DIY Induction Heater Builds and References

Wow, that was fast! Thanks a lot for taking time to respond to a quasi-noob ; I'm afraid I need a little more guidance, please bear with me : > FETs short closed. Measure across the Source-Drain junction. OK (I had to look up the drain & source) what value should I look for? I guess any...

DIY Induction Heater Builds and References

Wow, this is precious, thank you all for those fabulous builds, I want to try the half-pint myself, if only I can repair all the fried modules I have lying around :( they all seem to fail at some point. What is wrong with them? So OK, the first half dozen, I fried the FETs by underpowering the...

VapCap DIY Induction Heating : Bits 'n' pieces

Hey do you know if there exists a (even basic) schematic diagram of those ZVS IHs somewhere? Reason I ask is because I'd like to replace the MOSFETs on the ones that I fried.

VapCap DIY Induction Heating : Bits 'n' pieces

Everything seems to work pretty good now, with the 6A PSU, only when I put the vapcap too low / deep in the coil, the IH won't start. Can I try with more current, would this kind of PSU work ? Oh, and one more thing, what is a cheaponic? :)

VapCap DIY Induction Heating : Bits 'n' pieces

OK, so that was the answer. Dude, thank you ve-ry-much  for taking a wild guess to a probably poorly asked noob question. It works now, I mean when it doesn't, the MOSFET doesn't catch fire, the whole module just does not start. Man, you really got me out of a ditch there, you have no...

VapCap DIY Induction Heating : Bits 'n' pieces

Thanks a lot for your help, @Abysmal Vapor ; You mean that when it fails, it is because at that very time, the PSU did not provide the required amperage, and that, the times when it worked, it did its job? Hm. Interesting, so the modules would not be faulty... That would actually be good news...

VapCap DIY Induction Heating : Bits 'n' pieces

Hi guys ; long time reader here but now I have a burning question : I built several induction heaters based on the popular ZVS module available everywhere. They all work fine with a 20mm coil diameter. But the performance improve drastically with a 12mm coil diameter ; The problem is that the...

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

Hi Pipes! BTW I never thanked you, I bought a PSM from you a while ago, and it's still going strong! Fantastic design, actually a reference, kudos. Since then I built a number of DC models that work OK, but recently I came across a batch of those bad ZVS drivers, on which the FET seem to fail...
