Its braced in two spots and its not thin glass. Not to mention it would be easily fixable. Unfortunately with a recycler and how it works, there really isnt another way to do it without putting the tube inside and he could certainly do that but it would make the diameter of the tube much larger...

Lotta times too resin collects in the tube. Someone farther back posted about cleaning the unit with a balloon on the end of the bamboo and filling it with alcohol. Ive had to do this a few times when the unit has combusted and it does a good job of cleaning up in there.
