If you rotate the jhook about 160degrees so it lays alongside the ashcatcher, that increases stability a lot

Yes, works basically the same. Only the edge of the mouthpiece inserts into the 10mm joint, so it’s not as secure as a vong sunk into a 14mm joint, but the seal is good and it works fine.
