@TommyDee hey bro, the wood for the Moai is a NW hardwood often used for flooring....Madrone or madrona The stem in my avatar is also from madrone, it looks lighter cuz its spun burnished, rather than the wax/mineral finish. It is sometimes rough to work with, but polished out real smooth.

find a friend who has an ultrasonic cleaner. folks use them to cleans glassesm toothbrushs etc. Take the metal VC apart and throw it al in the cleaner, with a drop of dawn dish soap. rinse in water and dry completely...esp the cap
