If you bought the adapter that goes with it, you should be fine. From the pictures I have seen it should go from the heating element to a black converter and then into the mains power. Are you using your own converter? Did you buy the whole kit or just the heater?

I get vapor faster on my GS than on my OGFP 16mm and the SH. Faster extraction on smaller loads as well. Both are different beasts and have their own + & - points.

The glass is cleaned after manufacture, so the assembly should be clean. Also it is glass, so no oils or residues from manufacture. My 1st wand was perfectly clean, inside and out. If it really bothers you, unscrew the glass cover and clean it with ISO and then hot water and allow to dry...
