Thanks max for clearing that up. It seems that the two grinders I listed are very similar in function, although I have to agree with everyone else about the nice finish on the mnb. I was looking at Kelly's "new style" grinders but lost interest after seeing what PV had to say about them (post...
Thanks Spiral, I saw that earlier but I thought that was just for the "new style" grinder which is different to the CNC grinder (I think). Or am I getting confused?
Just thinking out loud here, but it just occurred to me that for some people it might be worth soldering up an extension cord with a plug on one end and a socket on the other. The power supply can be plugged into it and won't get any strain on the plug. Only the extension cord will get the...
I wouldn't consider myself an experienced vapourist, but I'm a very experienced ex-smoker. I find that weed vapour is more irritating than tobacco vapour. With small amounts of vapour, you won't notice anything. Larger amounts can irritate the throat (I don't notice it in my lungs as such). It's...
Sad but true. It's also become a great way to increase state revenue. Cops round here have become glorified tax collectors. All this while violence and 'real' crime escalates.
More complex? Hmm I would have thought the opposite. More robust? Definitely.
Interesting that you don't like to see buyer interaction. Maybe it's just a matter of taste, but I feel that it's important to see the various queries and responses about an item. Ebay also does this.
Group buys are...
Although I'll disagree that individual 'for sale' threads would involve more work for mods, this is actually a side issue. The most important aspect of my proposal is the ability for members to discuss an advertised item. Surely this is obvious? This is how it is done in all the other forums I'm...
Skunkypete, thanks for the pics. The sequence shows off the concept clearly. It got me thinking that maybe a "stubby" version of the PD stem would make a good accessory.
Good point. I think I noticed somewhere that he's from Queensland, and the cops there are notorious for their hatred of MJ. I hope that's not the reason he's disappeared.
Maybe I misunderstood, but according to max's instructions it appears that the mods would need to police the age of posts, and discard "old" items. As individual topics, such action is not necessary. It can also be interesting or educational to peruse old threads (on a side note, I disagree with...
I like the idea of a newbie forum. The best forums have a high "signal-to-noise" ratio. By keeping newbie questions out of the main discussions, quality can be preserved. This will increasingly become an issue as the site becomes more popular. As for the idea of "babysitting" etc, I don't see...
The only thing that I see in a lot of other forums and feel is missing here is a buying/selling section where both vendors and members can advertise stuff that is wanted or for sale.
Tom, as an example, I've got an old cheapo 300W supply and according to the specs written on the side it is capable of delivering 13A on its +12V line. There should be a similar sticker on your unit. You might want to check the actual voltage output because the specification allows for +/-5%...
Price rise? Ouch, I'm already hurting from the thought of paying $150, which after exchange rate calculations becomes a lot of money in my currency. Even though I don't own one yet, I've been telling a lot of people about the PD, but even the current price puts most people off. I realise that...
Well this is all new to me. I found this youtube and it seems like you can use these things without a bong.

Now I want to see it with a VCB on there...
Yes the resistor in that link is what I'm talking about. Ohms is the measure of resistance, however I think that you get more heat with less ohms. The formula is:
watts = voltage squared / ohms
or
ohms = voltage squared / watts
You need to work out how much heat you want, and that is...
I would just use a big fat ceramic power resistor. They cost about a dollar each. I think that's what the Volcano uses as its heat source. Use a dimmer switch or regulator circuit to adjust the power.
