It just depends on the style of vvps. Some go down to zero. You shouldn’t have to go below 9.3 in normal usage anyways.. I’ve left mine on 12volts forever.
I put in a brand new (and quite expensive) battery and my car still barely started........ 18 year old college student froze to death, it’s really no joke.

No worries about material touching the unit! Just keep playing with voltage until you find where you want to be. Also don’t over pack the stems and play with draw speed.

@CVC4455 if your center is bored to 5/16, your condenser will work with the xrings. Make sure you give it a good clean before use unless you like wood dust in your vapor. Have fun!
