A lot of it probably has to do with draw technique and knowing the perfect time to ease off the power source before things start combusting. My friend who usually only smokes.. can't for the life of him get anything out of using the MFLB.. but he had similar results using the Pax.

You should get the concentrate tray for the MFLB. They sell it on their store. I've never used it, but I'm guessing your scenario is exactly why they offer it.

I'm waiting for MFLB to release their updated power adapter. When I vape, its usually just between me and my girlfriend.. so the MFLB does this perfectly. My friend who cannot for the life of him get the draw technique correctly for the MFLB gets better results using the Solo.
