I've never tried DeOxit and I never will, based on the Hopper Labs recommendation not to put "any other substance" on the threads or back end. Blu-Tack works well for me. You're not actually applying a substance to the threads, just using it to pick up the residue.

Also note that the information regarding the use of De-Oxit was removed from the "Grasshopper Fixes" thread on 12/1/2016: I think that cleaning the back end threads with Blu-Tack can be helpful in certain circumstances, but the residue on the threads is not always associated with performance...
