I always shake my elb between hits. After each hit it the load moves from bottom to top, a good shake loosens it right up and keeps the hit and flavor super consistent IMO

It's all really just preference. A lot of people on here like bubblers because they are overall smaller and smaller works better with vapor in general, be it a bubbler or tube.
An average day is 6 or 7 UD stems @ 0.06-0.08g a stem, and an ELB or 2 in the Cloud with about 0.2g.
Unless I have the Pax out all day I rarely vape over a g a day
