You could use a 12mm cup screen in front of the cooling unit. Those are cheap on eBay.

I got mine in February. My memory is kind of foggy, but I'm pretty sure mine was like that. I waxed it a few times now so that split is unnoticeable now. I don't think it should be a problem. I don't think mine smoked on the initial burn off tho, but mine was unfinished.

Try easy fixes first. Battery level. Very light tamp. Try a long medium draw (maybe 10+ seconds at the least). Tighten the stem holder a little. If these don't work, then move on to the more complicated ones. 👍 Another o-ring that affects performance. Sorry mods. I couldn't figure out how to...

I had this problem when mine was new. I found that using my thumbs on the lid, putting slight downwards pressure (opposite of the bowl side) while pushing the lid off helped. It should loosen up with time.
