'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

If I were you I'd chuck 'em out. It's not just that they're combustable - those black and white leads might gas off at relatively low temps. Even out of the direct airpath that's not a good idea. I've just ordered a batch of the PTFE brown/blue ones - and they're just as cheap as the b/ws.

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

@blokenoname It's an adapted adapter :D. And probably the only hybrid WonG in existence :). Nice work . @TommyDee I think my G4 sockets are the same ones that you have. I thought the wiring's insulation looked a bit 'plastic' so I held a lighter flame against one of the leads and it...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

A bunch of apples :) The 24v/30w cartridge heaters arrived a couple of days ago and that enabled me to complete the apple trinity. So here it is - made from three blanks cut from the same branch. Left to right: cartridge, halogen, resistor. Actual colours lie somewhere between the...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Continuing the theme of halogen vapes... Here's the latest Rustic from the log lab at Brainiac Towers :). Local ash, 10w halo, hybrid wiring, coiling on the solid wire for heat dissipation, 11mm OD ss heater cover (from Bloke ), and an off-white leather base cover. It's oval in plan...

No. Quite the contrary. Blackthorn bark is really solid. Had to grind it off with a coarse sanding disc. But it's worth adding that some wood bark comes off relatively easily when the wood is freshly cut. In this instance I left the bark on during the drying process in the hope that it...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

@Vaporooni that's a really interesting project you have going there . Are you happy with it's performance or is it still wip? @Diggy Smalls big thanks for your kind word. "Awesome and beautiful", are in my mission statement :D @blokenoname Yet more practical innovation from the Misty...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

After finishing this apple halogen unit I made these glass stem WPAs for it. They're made from local plum (just to keep things fruity :)) and the glass came from a set of coloured glass drinking straws. The primary concern here, of course, was to ensure that the curtains match the carpet :D...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Good job there, Bloke :clap:. I like that method of threading the wires through the nut prior to soldering so that the connector can simply be push-fitted into the log and then secured in place with the nut. The simplest solutions are often the best . @Grobalot Many thanks for the...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Definitely. That's functional and very tidy. As promised here's the Rustic version of Bloke's ss core halogen Misty. It's a Rustic apple blank but the internals are pretty much all Misty. The heat's produced by a 10w halogen bulb. That's held within a heater cover made from 11mm x...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Hey! Those glass stems have 'character'. I might cut a couple of them in half actually, as the shanks seem slightly more like 12mm than the poorly finished and bulbous ends. Good luck with the blanks. All that sanding equipment you've got should make short work of them .

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Yes, absolutely the case and I had intended to mention it in the review. This is not a novelty vape. The bulb is a viable alternative to the resistor and the cartridge and all three have their pros and cons. Started work on a new blank for the halo today. The one I'd been working on had a...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Another impressive batch of new ideas @blokenoname :clap::rockon: And here's another one - which I'm definitely going to steal before you patent it  It's the stainless steel core halogen Misty. Have been using it for about two weeks now and I'm very impressed. It's the smallest...

Here's the Rustic version of Bloke's M2Go 510 dry herb vape. Up and running  The pod's made from local cherry that has lots of interesting detail. Mesh heater RTA. 80w box. All new stuff to me so I'm on at least two learning curves right now :). Still juggling variables, e.g...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Looks like a good Friday night to me :D I'm doing my best to keep up with bloke's latest DIY tutorial - the M2G 510 portable dry herb vape. I love my Firefly 1 but at 4 years old it's begining to feel its age. And with replacement batteries costing £25... Anyway, here's the progress report...

Hi Lina. Welcome to the thread and the site :) @blokenoname is the best guy to provide the information and I would guess that he'll be along soon. In the meantime, perhaps you could describe the sort of vape that you'd like to build. Is it one of these 510 units designed for dry herb or a...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Goin' back t' see the folks... This is where it all began for this unit. A woodland footpath. Winter storms had blown down a tree next to this (out of focus) apple tree and bent some of it's branches down across the footpath - from where they were duly cut during routine path maintenance in...
