If your leaving a spot behind when torching, you likely did not torch it long enough. It can take a lot of heat and a little extra time to get some of those thick black spots off the quartz.

Its probably better suited for a 20mm banger. They should all be around 15mm dia, however the ceramic one from Puffco has a smaller dia at the bottom than it does at the top because the walls are sloped.

The ceramic peak inserts are about 15mm dia at the top. I would think all the quartz and gem inserts made for the peak are 15mm dia.

Welcome to the club! 500F seems to be a good setting if your not using inserts. If you want to use inserts I would bump it up 50-100F for drop-tech. Not sure if you need to raise the temp at all if you leave the insert in?
