Maha and Eneloop are pretty much the best NiMh batteries on the market. They are available in AAA sizes. Check out candlepowerforums.com for extensive discussions on batteries and chargers. Much of the info is flashlight specific.

^^^ The 23c refers to the size of the tube. 23c-25c (sometimes 18c on the skinny end) is the standard road bike tube as opposed to mountain bike tubes which are bigger. Those would probably work, but I haven't tried that particular brand. I'm using an old tube from my road bike. Don't know...
