If you're willing to go up in money then TM2 seems a solid bet, same price range as the Firewood. I've not used the Firewood but that also gets great reviews and has great customer service in case of issues.

How do we know which are the cleanest butanes? Obviously they say on the can they're filtered etc... but is there any independent testing on the different varieties?

Yup it is, mines a walnut one. I bought it to replace my Stempod OG after losing it. I love the Splinter but the Stempod and the Dreamwood Glow are a bit more compact so better for on the go use. My Dreamwood lives in one of my bag pocket's.

They're closed at the moment though so you need to wait a few weeks before they're delivering again.

All ball vapes are convection heating, it just doesn't work the same. Tbh I find ball vapes very similar to my log for that reason. I'm not sure why you would be put off by a log vape but not a ball vape, they work the same way, you put the heater over the bowl and you inhale the hot air over...
