Awesome review THR! Best I've seen so far.
Here's a comfort for everyone who is still waiting for the Ascent - think of it this way: Davinci has released quite a few more units apart the couple that went to FC members and new reviews are popping up every once in a while (just check google for...
If the capacity was really that much lower it would really suck :( I don't want that to be true:
My guess would be that the glass lining of the bowl needs that extra bit of energy combined with this air leak issue. But at the end of the day you only have to compare the size of both vapes to see...
So this thing is clearly still in development - what's this thread doing in the portable vape section? Shouldn't it be moved back to 'Thread Candidates'?
People looking up FC for reviews on vaporizers would expect to find only vaporizers that have actually been released on the market in this...
Since Davinci hasn't commented on this vapor seal yet: there seem to be two possibilities for this vapor seal.
1) a cap that covers the bottom grill
2) rubber band that fits around the slit (connection between bottom part and top part of the Ascent)
@ Reviewers:
Could you try to emulate this...
@ DV: Do you have any info on the release in Europe yet? I'm not asking for a date, but I'd like to know if the Ascent has been CE-certified yet. Since the Ascent obviously seems to be ready to go (apart from packaging/buttons/rubber band) for quite some time now, it should have given you enough...
Since I very much doubt that Davinci will answer this question, I'll have to speculate by saying that it probably is the same manufacturer. They are assembled in China and finding a reliable partner in China is nothing for the faint of heart, which is why they should be stuck with their old...
If you don't like the cotton idea, maybe you could try simply adding some regular fan leaves from your plant and wrap your bud up in a couple of them (although you'd have to keep & cure them with every grow, along with the bud). Or maybe add some other (neutral tasting) cheap herb into the mix...
It would be nice to know which distributors will be receiving them first in Europe. Going by shop/site size and by looking at whether or not they already sell the original Davinci, these shops will probably be among the suppliers:
http://www.everyonedoesit.co.uk/ - UK...
I'm quite intrigued by the idea of using cotton. This probably means having less conduction than convection (depending on how fast the heat is dissipated throughout the cotton), so this might be another selling point for the Ascent, although this should work with any vape with large enough bowl...
Sorry for not being able to contribute anything entirely new, but I just noticed two things comparing it to the Solo:
Cleaning. Should be a lot easier compared to the Solo, because you can remove like 90% of the air path tubing and let it sit in isopropyl alcohol. Anyone who has used a bong...
A close-up shot of the power supply unit would be nice. The reviews here pretty much have me convinced to the point where I don't care if the batteries die in 2 years or not, I just want. this. thing. now! However, I'm not sure if the PSU will work over here in Europe (Germany), so having a...
Very excited to see the first pictures of the final product :)
This was answered somewhat a few pages ago. The conclusion was that the Pinnacle Hydrotube could be used with the Ascent and can be ordered from ebay.
But seeing Davinci cooparate with glass-makers to come up with a hydrotube for...
Is there a chance of telling us who your distributors are? Also, has the final Ascent been sent away for the European CE certificate yet? It would be nice to have a rough estimate when we can see them arriving over here. ~500 million Europeans are eagerly waving their money ;)
So does anyone know what size the Ascents glass mouthpiece is? From looking at the pictures I'd guess it's 14mm in diameter, which would be the standard size.
I'm really intrigued by these hydratubes - can they be purchased seperately? Anyone know which shops sell them over here in Europe? Which...
There is no such law (from what I know). The main reason for locking up any device to some degree is probably that it means less costs for Davinci in the long run, because there are too many idiots out there that will try to take their Ascent apart, break something and then still claim warranty.
Just an idea: you could always load the chamber with something else additionally to reduce the size of the heating chamber - in this case, a small piece of glas (a marble?) could help.
