All you guys make me want to buy glass! I broke my bong's downstem a couple weeks ago out on the beach and I don't have the money for a replacement. :(
I've found what works for me best is a silicon tip on my stem, it really helps me control my airflow since I can bite it and listen to the air whisper where I'm biting. I was only using the tip for water pipes, but it's grown on me as an (almost) permanent tool for different things.
My take on it is she wants the airflow back from the PVHES.
And yes, some air is brought from around the stem and when you cut it off with the o-ring it's supposedly even worse with stock everything.
I'm sure the worse you do the job the faster it will degrade, so take your time with your cuts; I don't want you to be getting a cut! :myday:
And I doubt you have to line them up, gasses diffuse really easily when given the chance ;)
I also blow through mine, but my screen isn't ultra fine. In fact, it's the screens from my DBV  talk about recycling! :D
But mine is in the early stage of resining up on the end of the stem. Not quite starting but there's something there.
But that's ultra fine double screened, that's not fair :lmao:
I did the dumbest thing while stoned and tried to inhale through the other side. Particulate got all up in the stem! It just stayed because it was so sticky though
You could also try putting a screen in there, .583" (14.8mm) screens will fit right in the bowl. In my experience 1 will help a bit (my preference) but 2 will make a super big difference.
I think of it as undesirable and throw it away when it stops hitting at 7, the Solo is extremely efficient in getting everything out. There might be a few higher temp cannabinoids but there's such a minuscule amount that it's not worth even trying to smoke. Again, you'd have to have a huge...
