If you're using the Original Sublimator at a higher wattage than 42W, it's generally going to decrease it's life time. the highest setting is ment to help clean and burn off all the garbage/impurities that is on the sublimator.

It does not need to rest at all, the timer is simply there to monitor your usage of the machine, it turns off if you don't sublimate. It's ment to hit you, then turn off. The timer is one of the best companions to have.
