to me it sounds like a power or resistance problem. Do you have an Ohm meter to check the entire herc with bottom adapter?

well this was kind of a bust

i got a chance to quick clean a friends herc last night. He was jealous that mine tasted so much better. i should have taken a picture of the dirty rod. it looked like a black Qtip. mine has never had that much buildup. I suspect he never cleans it
